
Job Description:
Bank of America Merrill Lynch is seeking an Energy Analyst to join its Global Commodity Research team in New York.
The candidate will:
- Contribute to regular publications by researching key issues on energy/commodity markets.
- Contribute to our commodities price forecasting effort through econometric modelling of commodity markets.
- Interact with a broad array of internal sales and trading desks, as well as with external corporate and investor clients.
- Monitor and analyze ongoing developments in the commodity markets.
Qualifications/skills
- A minimum of 3-5 years of experience covering natural gas at an investment bank, institutional investor, or energy trading operation
- Postgraduate degree in economics, econometrics, statistics, or finance (MA/PhD), with an excellent academic record.
- Thorough knowledge of microeconomics, financial economics and financial derivatives, with a special focus on price theory.
- Some background in macroeconomics, particularly business cycle theory, and financial portfolio theory would be an advantage.
- Strong interest in commodity and financial markets are a must.
- Advanced software skills in both MS Office and one or more applied statistical packages (EViews, STATA). Familiarity with Phython would be very helpful too.
- Very good presentation skills, able to present thoughts clearly and succinctly.
- Fluent in English. Command of other languages would be an advantage, but not essential.
- Teamwork-oriented, able to work under pressure.
- Excellent writing skills.
