QA Tester (Web Services/API)

Job Description:

Come join an exciting team within Global Information Security (GIS). Cyber Security Technology (CST) is a globally distributed team responsible for cyber security innovation and architecture, engineering, solutions and capabilities development, cyber resiliency, access management engineering, data strategy, deployment maintenance, technical project management and information technology security control support. 

This role is responsible for testing and delivering complex software to accomplish business outcomes.  These individuals are subject matter experts on testing practices ensuring that software is tested to meet functional, non-functional, and compliance requirements. They help condition and generate test data, build and execute both manual and automated test suites, record and communicate the test results, and assist with triaging defects.  They also ensure regression test suites are maintained and well designed. 

Primary Level of Engagement:
Works as a team member under supervision from a more senior domain expert.

Key Responsibilities:
• Develop detailed, comprehensive and well-structured test cases based on functional, non-functional, and compliance requirements. 
• Lead test planning, usually at a team level.  When part of a Scrum team, ensure stories are well refined and contain clear acceptance criteria.
• Ensure in-scope and out-of-scope items are clearly identified during test planning.
• Implement the test framework for the team.
• Lead test case reviews and work with subject matter experts and stakeholders to ensure test coverage.
• Identify automation opportunities and develop test automation for applicable test types.
• Help condition and generate test data and ensure data compliance requirements are met on all levels of test environments.  Assist in identifying and managing sensitive test data.
• Execute test cases, including manual and automated tests, and record test results.
• Report issues and defects along with the appropriate background information for review.
• Participate in triaging reported issues/defects and assist with resolving or escalating them as necessary.
• Create and manage traceability. Trace tests forwards/backwards through the development lifecycle and back to requirements.
• Use testing tools and follow processes to complete testing on a given test environment, and assist with fulfillment of necessary steps required to promote code base to higher level environments.
• Maintain and catalog test suites across test types (Smoke, Integration, Regression, etc.)

Required Skills:
• 7+ Years General Testing PLUS 3+ Years Web Service/API Testing Experience
• Experience in multiple testing types (Functional, Web Service/API, Regression, Performance)
• Proficient in all phases of SDLC as it relates to Web Service/API Testing
• Experience in testing using JUnit/ Test NG/ SOAP UI frameworks required to develop and execute automated test solutions
• Experience in Java programming language with good understanding of webservices
• Expertise in translating business requirements into automated test suites
• Ability to work independently and with others to gather requirements and document the Web Service/API Testing Test Plan
• Experience reviewing Use Cases and application technology to assess the feasibility of using defined tools to simulate API/ Webservice integrations
• Capable of Developing, testing, and debugging scripts in multiple protocols (HTTP, SOAP, REST etc.)
• Proficient in Executing, analyzing, and reporting the results and understand testing impacts
• Collaborating with technical teams for troubleshooting issues and supporting root cause analysis
• Strong attention to detail to ensure consistent quality in all phases of Testing
• Understanding overview of Web Application and its architecture – Multitier architecture
• Analytical and problem solving skills
• Excellent in both written and oral communication
• Degree in IT or equivalent

Colorado pay range:

$76,500 - $117,300 annualized salary, offers to be determined based on experience, education and skill set.
