Your background

  • 10+ years in information technology with 4+ years of financial services experience in Corporate Banking & Transaction Services (specifically Global Payments, Receivables, Liquidity, Account Services and Revenue Management)
  • Skilled in software / systems architecture / infrastructure architecture (including Cloud and Container platforms)
  • Strong proactive leadership skills
  • Excellent written (technical) and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate at all levels of management. Stakeholder management and influence skills
  • Ability to work with various groups (business, technology, compliance, legal)
  • Ability to stimulate and participate in creative thinking for out-of-the-box solutions
  • Work effectively in a matrix organization with teams of architects, developers and business partners with minimal supervision
  • Interpreting business needs and applying innovative technology solutions
  • Governance and oversight processes for managing alignment of change to strategic goals
  • B.S. or M.S. in computer science or equivalent engineering/technology degree
  • Certification or extensive experience in industry best practices in architectural methodologies and standards (e.g. TOGAF, CMM, Zachman, etc.) – Preferred but not necessary

The Enterprise Architecture & Engineering team has an opportunity for an ambitious and experienced individual.  EAE plays a critical role in the organization and provides Group Technology teams with direction on technology strategies and solutions, manage architecture-related risks and drive adherence to published technology standards.

The Enterprise Solution Architect will support Group Technology teams with a focus on Corporate Banking & Transaction Services. This may extend towards Global Markets, Enterprise Risk and Finance Technology as well.

The Solution Architect will design and drive comprehensive end-to-end solutions which meet business requirements in support of a given portfolio.  The role requires a strong technical and architectural background with an in-depth knowledge of Corporate Banking & Transaction Services. There will be opportunities to expand acquisition of domain knowledge into other business areas including Global Markets, Enterprise Risk and Finance technology as well. This person will be accountable for solution designs, evaluation, and selection (buy vs. build decisions), and support the definition of domain strategy with an APAC perspective. The role will also perform a governance function through design reviews of specific solutions proposed by Group Technology teams.

You can expect to be exposed to a wide variety of projects both from a governance and solution design perspective, with significant opportunities to learn and expand your domain knowledge in banking technology. EAE APAC has remit across all 12 countries that Bank of America operates in Asia. What you will do

  • Responsible for defining an architectural vision and architecture for large complex solutions, which aligns with the enterprise architecture strategy, technology and platform choices. Understands the business problems, describes the solution intent and the associated operating environment, determining the primary systems/subsystems and their interfaces, defining non-functional requirements and architectural runway to support new epics/features and expand into new opportunities.
  • Ensures the solution is fit for purpose and use by working with stakeholders, vendors/service providers, and evaluating the impact of strategic design decisions.
  • Contributes to best practices, standard templates, and the architecture roadmap for defined domains.
  • Contributes in the creation of the architecture roadmap of defined domains (Business, Application, Data and Technology) in support of the product roadmap.
  • Contributes to the development of best practices including standardized templates.
  • Works across business and technology to create the solution intent and architectural vision for large complex solutions and evolves it based on an emerging backlog.
  • Leads rapid shaping of a high-level architecture with details filled in with emerging business requirements; ensures architecture is flexible, modular and extendable.
  • Facilitates solution driven discussions, leads the design of complex architectures, and finds creative solutions through practical experiments and POCs.
  • Works with Product Manager/Owner to plan and prioritize technology focused backlog items for the architecture runway to enable business epics/features and expand into new opportunities.
  • Clarifies the architecture for the development teams to support implementation plans, and provides solution options to resolve any architectural impediments.
  • Performs design reviews to ensure all non-functional requirements for a solution are sufficiently met (e.g. security, performance, maintainability, scalability, usability, and reliability).
  • Supports the Principal Engineer as needed to select the technology stack needed for solutions, and helps select preferred technology products.
  • Educates team members on the technology practices, standardization strategies and best practices to create innovative solutions.
