Commercial Real Estate Banking (CREB) Associate Underwriter (AUW) is responsible for performing deal analysis, preparation of supporting justification, and processing approvals. The AUW has understanding of key credit policies and regulations for applicability/impact to a credit transaction. The AUW is a member of the CREB market team, is aligned to LOB regions/markets, supports the UW, SUW, CO and/or PMO teams in a specific market. The AUW will also assist and advise the CREB portfolio group with any post closing credit actions as needed. Successful candidates will possess functional knowledge and will have demonstrated strong performance with a focus on collaboration, driving operational excellence and the ability to influence leaders, peers and clients. 

For CDB the UW will be responsible for performing deal analysis for credit and equity transactions, including preparation of equity models and PAF, as well as all prescreen analysis. The AUW will work with the CO, SUW, and UW to evaluate profitability, determine tax implications and validate underlying assumptions in the analysis.

Have 0-2 years experience in financial institution.

Role Qualifications: Zero to two years experience within financial institution; Knowledge of the primary functions of the Commercial Real Estate Banking teams at Bank of America; Strong analytical skills; Strong written and communication skills; Proficient with technology and ability to learn new applications; Ability to prioritize, self-motivated, detail-oriented, etc.; Fluency in reading financial statements, Understands drivers of cash flow; Demonstrates ability to calculate and test financial covenants; Possesses (or is developing) modeling experience.

Role Overview:

As an employee in this role you will be responsible for providing support of underwriting and monitoring activities within Commercial Real Estate Banking (CREB). This includes financial spreading, risk rating scorecard, covenant testing, and borrowing base review and analysis. In this role you may be assigned a limited portfolio of clients. Additionally, in this role you will be responsible for ongoing credit analysis and escalation to the broader credit team. Employees in this role should have a keen understanding of key credit policies and regulations and their potential applicability and/or impacts to credit transactions.

Functional Role Description:

  • Help manage a limited portfolio of clients.

  • Complete new deal analysis and supporting justification.

  • Prepare credit approval documents.

  • Support the credit officer and senior underwriters as they complete Deal Screen Memos and term sheets.

  • Complete Credit Approval Memorandum (CAM) preparation and collateral analysis.

  • Capture data for new originations.

Role Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of the primary functions of the Commercial Real Estate Banking teams at Bank of America

  • Familiarity with core banking products

  • Adept at gathering and analyzing market and portfolio information

  • Strong communication and analytical/technical skills, including financial accounting, modeling and loan structuring.

  • Strong writing skills

  • Bachelor's Degree required
