Job Description:
Conducts primary manager due diligence. Reporting to the Managing Director and Head of Business Due Diligence, the Business/Operational Due Diligence Analyst will help support a $35 billion hedge fund/private equity origination and distribution business. This person will be responsible for the business/operational evaluation for current and prospective hedge fund and private equity investments and will interface with Hedge Fund managers and senior management at Bank of America/Merrill Lynch, as well as Financial Advisors and their clients.
This position will be responsible for:
- Conducting business and operational due diligence reviews on new and existing hedge fund/private equity investments including onsite visits and interviews with senior management of the firm.
- Evaluating fund and firm ownership structure, valuation procedures, trade flow and internal controls, disaster recovery procedures and IT security, infrastructure, service providers, and legal & compliance environment
- Reviewing all manager and fund specific documentation including due diligence questionnaires, offering documents, regulatory filings, audit reports, etc.
- Present due diligence findings and recommendations to the Due Diligence Investment Committee via a comprehensive written and verbal report.
Qualifications / Desired Skills
- 2+ years of experience in the analysis of hedge funds/private equity funds and their operations, as a credit analyst, auditor, or fund of funds analyst.
- Direct hedge fund financial, operational, legal or compliance experience will also be considered.
- Bachelor’s degree from a top- tier educational institution is required, preferably in accounting, computer science, economics, finance or a related field.
- CPA designation or a graduate degree(s) in one of the aforementioned fields would be highly beneficial.
- Deep knowledge of the alternative investments industry and financial/operational aspects of managers is required.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Must be a team player and desire to work in a collegial environment with other team members across the combined Bank of America - Merrill Lynch organization.
- Series 7, 63 & 65 or 66 registration required within 120 days of start in role.
