Climate Credit Underwriter: Enterprise Credit – Climate Centre of Excellence

Provide analytical support in executing internal control discipline and operational excellence within a LOB/ECF. Gather and organize data in order to monitor and test the effectiveness of key controls and status of mitigation and action plans. Prepare documentation for the tracking, monitoring, and escalation of risk related issues to management. Acts as an ambassador of the risk culture. Incumbents typically have over 5+ years of risk management and/or LOB/ECF experience. May manage staff.

• Serves as a Climate Credit Underwriting professional to complete the Climate and Environment Risk Assessment (CERA) for a given portfolio of names, ensuring compliance with relevant Policy and Procedures

• Gathers climate disclosures and public data available to assess Climate and Environment Risk to complete assessment and becomes an expert over time

• Accountable for comprehending, assessing and analyzing the Climate Risk profile for an assigned portfolio

• Analyze Climate trends for covered portfolios and regions

• Works with the Credit Officers and Risk Officers, to align views, resolve issues and seek approval

• New climate related tasks may be considered as the scope of the team expands and evolves

Required Skills:

  • Up to 5 years’ experience within a major global investment bank of risk management/ governance/credit underwriting and client coverage / portfolio management disciplines

  • Ability to handle and analyze large amounts of data, and analyze industry trends

  • Interest and willingness to learn about the evolving climate landscape, including regulatory developments

  • Awareness and understanding of the wider business, market and regulatory environment in which the bank operates, and how that impacts of climate on client and portfolio’s credit profile

  • Awareness and understanding of the bank's business strategy and risk framework

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively

  • Team player, agile and adaptable

Desired Skills:

  • Governance, oversight and controls, ability to assess the effectiveness of the bank's arrangements to deliver effective governance, oversight and controls in the business

  • Broader Risk awareness and understanding of main factors affecting bank, and wider industry
