Risk Manager - Risk Appetite & Limits

Job Description:

The Global Risk Governance and Strategy team is responsible for ensuring “best-in-class” and consistent risk governance practices across the organization. We are seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented individual to be a part of a diverse and talented team responsible for oversight and coordination of the Enterprise Risk Appetite (ERA) program that includes engaging in activities related to maintenance, evaluation and reporting of risk appetite metric results. The role requires collaboration with teams across the company to ensure adherence with the ERA guidelines and applicable laws, rules, and regulatory requirements to drive consistency. The candidate is encouraged to think creatively, challenge status quo, deliver enhancements across multiple strategic initiatives, and will utilize expertise to contribute to strategic solutions, providing effective challenge and oversight while building and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders.

The role requires collaboration with teams across the company to ensure adherence with the ERA guidelines and applicable laws, rules, and regulatory requirements to drive consistency.  The candidate is encouraged to think creatively, challenge status quo, deliver enhancements across multiple strategic initiatives, and will utilize expertise to contribute to strategic solutions, providing effective challenge and oversight while building and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders.

This role gives you the opportunity to:

Key Responsibilities will include:

  • Overseeing the annual risk appetite limit setting activities

  • Providing subject matter expertise to the team related to risk appetite processes 

  • Ensuring compliance with the company’s Risk Framework and related guidelines for monitoring and escalating risk appetite metrics and related limit breaches

  • Reviewing metric reports for accuracy prior to distribution to senior management

  • Analyzing and recommending system and process changes to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of Risk Appetite processes

  • Escalating and helping to investigate data problems (e.g. late or inaccurate data) related to risk metrics

Required Skills:

  • Organized and an eye for detail

  • Strong analytical skills and ability to effectively challenge or identify limitations and assumptions

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including ability to interact, influence

  • 7+ years of financial industry or risk experience involving these risk types (compliance, operational, credit, market, liquidity and strategic)

  • Knowledge of strategic planning / risk identification

  • Communicate effectively with senior executives and business partners across the company

  • Ability to manage multiple competing priorities while meeting each deadline

  • Proficiency in using MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Webex

  • Basic SQL / programming skills, Visio and Tableau skills are desired
