Associate – Investment Banking, Financial Sponsors Group

Our Global Corporate & Investment Banking business focuses on building long-term relationships with more than 3,000 large U.S. and multinational corporations, financial institutions and financial sponsors. We provide strong advisory expertise, capitalizing on powerful mergers and acquisitions, corporate banking, treasury, debt and equity product expertise to deliver integrated financial solutions.

The Financial Sponsors Investment Banking Group provides financial and advisory solutions to private equity clients across the globe. As an associate in the team you would play a critical role in leading the execution of strategic advisory (e.g. LBO, M&A Add-On, Sale, IPO, etc.) and capital market transactions globally.

The Financial Sponsor Group is a leader in the industry, driving landmark transactions for our clients. Our practice in San Francisco has executed some of the largest and most complex private equity-led transactions in recent years – across a broad industry landscape including technology, software, healthcare, industrials and business services.

Job Description

Key tasks and responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

  • Developing and maintaining complex financial models
  • Performing various financial analyses, including valuations and merger consequences
  • Conducting comprehensive and in-depth company and industry research
  • Preparing presentation and other materials for clients
  • Participating in due diligence sessions
  • Communicating and interacting with deal team members, including those in international regions
  • Managing several projects at once and working effectively as an individual and as part of a team
  • Play a key role supporting origination, opportunity evaluation and deal execution, working on abroad scope of assignments and products across various industries.
  • Team members work closely with senior bankers in day-to-day client coverage and are expected to make an immediate contribution

Qualifications

  • MBA preferred, select candidates with a  Bachelor’s degree and  outstanding academic qualifications will be considered
  • 1-3 years relevant experience; Investment or Corporate Banking associate experience preferred but not required
  • Highly developed analytical and interpretive reasoning, and creative problem-solving
  • Advanced technical proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint
  • Strong communication skills and ability to engage productively with senior management
  • Assertiveness, initiative, leadership, strong work ethic, team focus
  • A track record of superior performance in extracurricular and professional activities
  • Ability to work collaboratively and under tight deadlines with minimum direct supervision

Enterprise Job Description:

Assigned as permanent hires to Investment Banking. Actively participates on specific client and deal teams. Initially, activities are focused on financial and statistical analysis, development of client presentation, and structuring and execution activities. As they develop their client relationship skills, start to assume business development or product advisory and specialist responsibilities. Within some businesses, may involve initial rotation through a number of product areas before permanent assignment. Generally, these are individuals who received MBAs in 2022, or are high performing analysts who have completed the analyst program and were promoted into this position at its conclusion.
