Job Description:

Bank of America is seeking a Commercial Credit Underwriter I for our Sports Finance & Advisory Group. The Sports Finance & Advisory Group is part of the Commercial Bank, focusing on the professional sports industry including traditional banking, capital raising and advisory services. Our target markets are the major league sports teams, their respective leagues, and other sports and related industry segments, including Regional Sports Networks and select food and beverage concessionaires. The Sports Finance & Advisory Group maintains a leadership role within the industry, leads numerous nationally syndicated transactions, and has a close working relationship with our Corporate and Investment Banking business partners. This position offers a steep learning curve and the opportunity to work with many product partners throughout the organization. The role will be based in Charlotte, NC.

The Credit Underwriter I is responsible for underwriting straightforward and complex credit transactions with minimal oversight from the Credit Officer and Credit Manager and is an active participant in the credit approval, documentation and closing processes. Provides ongoing management and primary accountability for all monitoring and maintenance activities on an assigned portfolio and delivers financial, industry, economic and other analysis to facilitate decision making, while also ensuring adherence to credit policies, guidelines, and applicable regulatory requirements. This role reports to the Commercial Credit Manager and partners closely with Credit Officers, Client Managers and Commercial Associates.  

Required Skills

  • BS/BA degree preferred
  • 3+ years of solid experience in financial analysis, credit structuring and underwriting, portfolio management, financial accounting and modeling, and strong communication skills
  • Ability to explain and defend financial analysis, including the underwriting thesis, key credit risks and mitigants, financial modeling, and transaction returns to manager and senior bank executives
  • Must be highly organized with skills at multi-tasking and ability to shift priorities to meet deadlines
