Director, Global Sustainable Finance Group - Data, Strategy & Governance

Job Description:

The Global Sustainable Finance Group (GSFG) implements the strategy set by the Sustainable Markets Committee and works alongside BofA’s eight lines of business to mobilize and scale capital deployment that is aligned with the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs). The two main pillars of our business focus are as follows:

Environmental Transition: Address climate change and promote the circular economy including solutions for renewable energy, energy efficiency, clean transportation, water & sanitation, sustainable agriculture, and carbon capture & sequestration

Inclusive Development: Advance community development, affordable housing, healthcare, education, financial and digital inclusion, access to basic services, racial and gender equality, and promote environmental justice

To drive the effective implementation of our firm-wide sustainable finance strategy and accomplish our capital deployment target of $1.5T by 2030, our Sustainable Finance team operates across the following 4 focus areas:

Asset Finance: Drive global asset financing, tax equity investments, and distribution solutions within Sustainable Finance

Innovative Structuring: Develop innovative financing solutions within new sustainable asset classes and emerging technologies

Advisory: Advise clients on strategies to successfully meet their sustainability goals including Net Zero and Carbon Neutrality, and Social & Inclusive Development

Data, Strategy, & Governance: Develop and implement firm-wide sustainable finance strategy and track real time progress with clients in financing, investment, advisory, and distribution activities

Director

The team is seeking to hire a Director in the GSFG: Data Strategy and Governance team who will be in charge of leading the governance and implementation of the tracking BofA’s sustainable finance activity, maintaining day-to-day dialogue across all eight lines of business concerning data reporting, utilize the data to arrive at strategic insight to help advance the  bank’s strategy and goals as well as working on other strategic projects for the enterprise.

Role:

  • Lead design and implementation of data capture and reporting systems, including data visualization, for activities that contribute to the overall Global Sustainable Finance goals as well as BofA development finance.
  • Coordinate with the ESG team and manage the Sustainable Finance Taxonomy, engaging with LOBs on results and opportunities, identifying qualifying transactions, deepening analysis on flagged sectors and transactions, and assigning SDG goals to activities
  • Contribute to internal innovation of new approaches, tools, processes, online solutions and communications
  • Provide fair and transparent feedback to junior team members while holding them accountable for their deliverables
  • Lead the development of key materials for senior management discussions
  • Represent BofA at external alliance/partnerships/industry
  • Lead development/strategy for BofA’s entry into Sustainable Finance sectors

Qualifications:

  • Substantial professional experience (6-8 years of experience) in positions of increasing complexity and responsibility that includes significant experience in leading and conducting transactions/analytics/reporting
  • Strong data research and analytics skills to gather, analyze, report, and present data driving sustainable finance
  • Superior project management skills with sound judgment and strong organizational abilities
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to distill key messages from complex information into insights for management decisions and business development
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively across boundaries, and form strong working relationships at all levels, with internal and external partners, to drive results
