Managing Director/Director- Industry Group COO, Investment Banking

Job Description:

Our Global Corporate & Investment Banking business focuses on building long-term relationships with more than 5,000 large U.S. and multinational corporations, financial institutions and financial sponsors.  We provide strategic mergers and acquisitions advisory, corporate banking, treasury, debt and equity capital markets expertise to deliver integrated financial solutions.

The industry groups within GCIB advise both corporate and financial sponsor clients on strategic and capital markets transactions across the consumer & retail, healthcare, financial institutions, industrials, natural resources, real estate & lodging, telecommunications, media and technology sectors.   The global teams are focused on a range of transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, equity and debt financings, leveraged buyouts, and rates, currency and commodity hedging.

The COO / Business Support Executive will act as a strategic advisor to the industry group head(s) focusing on driving initiatives to help lead and manage the global business.  Key areas of focus include business strategy and planning, global coordination, senior management presentations, client analysis, business and banker performance measurement and analysis, competitor benchmarking, technology initiatives, client information systems development/enhancements, communications, regulatory reform and strategic projects.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Proactively identify and deliver relevant analytics to address key business needs and drive business growth; conduct structured strategic analysis in relation to market competitors

  • Work with other COO teams on key projects/initiatives as it relates to regulatory, technology and other ad-hoc projects

  • Manage internal communications and prepare presentations for quarterly/monthly business reviews, leadership events, etc.

  • Act as liaison with senior management to ensure client and support partner satisfaction in the business

  • Partner with human resources, program management, business continuity team and compliance to ensure business continues to review and follow appropriate procedures

  • Work closely with regional / sector heads and support groups in managing the day-to-day

Qualifications:

  • Outstanding ability and gravitas to manage and influence stakeholder relationships at all levels of the organization, with particular focus at the senior management level

  • Ability to quickly flex and re-adjust under high pressure and challenging situations

  • Superior presentation skills to represent the business across internal and external platforms

  • Proven ability to exercise independent and proactive leadership

  • Outstanding analytical skills to identify business trends

  • Strong communication skills in relation to people at all levels of the organization

  • Demonstrated ability to juggle and execute a high volume of competing priorities within strict deadlines

  • Enthusiasm to take on new and challenging tasks in dynamic environment

  • Financial, operations, general business support experience in the corporate & investment banking business preferred

  • Previous experience as a banker or product specialist in any areas within GCIB may be valuable
