Sr Business Control Specialist / Change Initiative Risk

Job Description:

This role is part of the Enterprise Transaction Services, Risk and Business Control (RBC) team that partners with four lines of business to ensure timely identification, escalation and monitoring of risks associated with change initiatives.  This individual will engage in change initiatives of all sizes that impact assigned Front Line Unit (FLU) partners (up to 2 lines of business) to act as the primary RBC partner for risk assessment and guidance associated with the project.  The level of engagement will vary based on the size and scope of the initiative and/or overall impact to the business. 

Primary responsibilities for this individual contributor include but are not limited to:

  • Engage with Transformation, Initiatives and Process Office (TIPO) and FLU business teams at the onset of all initiatives

  • Actively participate in and approve Materiality Assessments and UCRAs

  • Provide feedback and guidance on potential risks and their impacts

  • Provide meaningful input into process and control development/design to mitigate identified risks

  • Participate in project routines, updates and governance activities throughout the change process

  • Ensure upstream/downstream impacts of initiatives are socialized and vetted

  • Build relationships and consult with business managers and partners as needed (e.g., Compliance & Operational Risk, etc.) based on specific initiative requirements

  • Leverage tools designed to review, monitor and score risk throughout the project lifecycle

  • Provide overall Point of View assessment of change at the business level (people, process and technology risk and readiness)

  • Identify and escalate risk concerns when necessary - if appropriate, recommend mitigating actions

  • Provide awareness of change to appropriate RBC resources and assist with ensuring updates to RBC owned routines or documents

  • Learn/demonstrate business acumen to provide consulting support as needed during audits, reviews or assessments

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Experience in a Risk, Compliance, Regulatory or Business Control environment

  • Ability to manage and shift priorities in a fast-paced environment to meet competing priorities and deadlines

  • Strong ability to communicate (written and verbal) and present information to partners of all levels

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)

  • Analytical, logical reasoning with problem solving skills

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Strong partnership and relationship building skills with the ability to influence when necessary

  • Project Management or related Process Design experience

Desired Skills:

  • Strong understanding of one or more of ETS FLUs - Enterprise Card Issuance, Enterprise Merchant Operations, Check Operations or Cash & Transportation Services

  • Familiarity with the Bank of America Risk Framework and associated policies and procedures
