Attorney - Consumer Banking

Wilmington, Delaware;

Job Description:

Provides general legal counsel to the consumer banking businesses, as well as specific advice on products, services and certain legal actions. Reviews legal contracts and documents. Directly, or through staff, conducts legal research. May represent the bank in legal actions. Individuals in this position typically have a minimum of five years of experience since admission to the Bar.

Reporting to the head of the Consumer Credit Card Product Legal Team, the individual will be responsible for providing advice regarding the bank’s credit card operations.  This will include compliance with Regulation Z and Regulation B, FCRA, MLA, SCRA, UDAAP, and advising the bank on how best to position, structure and design their various business initiatives.  Some transactional work will be called for as well, particularly in regards to agreements with credit bureaus, card-issuing associations, and agreements related to co-brand relationships.  There will also be some legislative analysis, usually regarding the impact of proposed state laws, and work with various modeling teams that support the credit card business.

Required Skills & Abilities:

•  JD or equivalent degree.

•  Admitted to the bar and in good standing.

•  5 years of experience

Desired Skills & Abilities:

•  Consumer credit regulations experience

•  Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

•  Ability to work under pressure with the flexibility to manage competing priorities and workload while meeting deadlines within a changing and fast-paced environment
