Feature Lead Technology, Risk Technology

Job Description:

Responsible for providing leadership, technical direction, and oversight to a team as they deliver technology solutions. Develops solutions and processes for delivering features based on their knowledge of design/architectural patterns and Agile/DevOps practices. Ensures the systems design and requirements are aligned to achieve the desired business outcomes, and that team practices and coding/quality principles are aligned to achieve the desired technology outcomes. They have built significant experience through multiple software implementations and has developed both depth and breadth in a number of technical competencies. Designs and develops and is accountable for feature delivery. Applies enterprise standards for solution design, coding and quality. Ensures solution meets product acceptance criteria with minimal technical debt. Responsible for compliance and security items and audit support at the team level. Acts as a liaison for production activities/issues. Works with Product Owner to ensure that product backlog/requirements are healthy, with clear acceptance criteria. Guides the team on work breakdown and execution. Plays a team lead role (as an individual contributor) and mentors the team. Guides team members with skills and practices (planning & estimation, peer reviews and other engineering practices). Identifies skill and role gaps, and works with Technology Manager to address them. Works with Technology Manager in creating resource contingency plans where required. Individual contributor.

Technical Application Manager will have to oversee technical solution design, management of development/build, testing and implementation, with a focus on creating efficiency and scale within core compliance operations through technology and automation. This person will develop an understanding of and identify improvements to the company infrastructure, underlying logic, and data models. He/she will understand and translate requirements/rules from project stakeholders to team members.

Should be able to independently identify, scope a design, and manage implementation of technical solutions across the team's operational domains. Will build and improve upon company’s technology platform for sanctions screening functions and drive important projects that contribute to build of strategies for applications development and other functional areas.

Will report to the Senior Technology Manager. US Citizenship, or right to work in the US is required.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Utilize in-depth knowledge and skills across multiple Applications Development areas to provide technical oversight across systems and applications
  • Review and analyze proposed technical solutions for projects
  • Determine how to deploy the team's technical skills to solve operational challenges
  • Manage one or more Applications Development teams in an effort to accomplish established goals as well as conduct personnel duties for team (e.g. performance evaluations, hiring and disciplinary actions)
  • Oversee technical operations roadmaps, working to develop solutions that improve efficiency of existing operational processes
  • Manage end-to-end product development cycles including requirements definition, project plan, scrum leadership, QA and release coordination
  • Find and address risks; respond to and resolve issues/errors/escalations through investigation to produce insights for short/medium/long-term technology-enabled solutions
  • Lead iterative problem definition and technical design/scoping, managing and maintaining relationships with business and technical teams across the Bank to gather support where needed
  • Impact the Applications Development area through monitoring delivery of end results, participate in budget management, and handling day-to-day staff management issues, including resource management and allocation of work within the team/project
  • Support engineers, analysts and other team members to resolve escalations through issue investigation to produce insights, training, and technical tooling
  • Partner with the Business, Operations, Engineering and Data teams to structure and improve an existing technology processes and procedures, to reduce the risk and expedite the delivery of software modifications into production

Required Skills:

  • 15+ years of experience in Applications Development Manager (project manager, product manager, operations manager, lead/senior consultant)
  • Experience as senior level in an Applications Development role, using coding languages such as Java, MQ Series,  Well versed with J2EE applications
  • Proven project management skills
  • Experience developing project plans and coordinating with all partners
  • Good and effective communication and leadership skills
  • Ability to work with all levels of an organization
  • Ability to analyze business requirements and propose various solutions
  • Basic knowledge of industry practices and standards

Desired Skills:

  • A technical bachelor's degree or 10 years of relevant experience
  • An academic and professional background in coding, math, statistics, or data science
  • Knowledge of management, training, or content development experience
  • Experience in the Sanctions and Compliance or Finance industry
  • Experience with network data modeling, data governance and technical design
  • Experience with Vendors Software
  • Experience with Agile methodology
