Stress Testing Consultant

Job Description:

This is an exciting time to join the Enterprise Scenario Planning and Execution (ESPE) team. The expectations for large bank stress testing are evolving – there are new risks to consider under the COVID-19 environment, emerging global themes such as climate change, and continual refinement of regulatory requirements. The ESPE group is at the center of several key deliverables spanning financial planning, risk management, capital planning, and recovery and resolution planning (RRP) both in the US and globally and therefore offers a unique opportunity to get involved in a number of high-impact company priorities.

The ESPE team is building out the enterprise capabilities around Climate Risk Scenario Management and Stress Testing.  This includes designing the end-to-end climate stress forecasting process and working with business partners on successfully executing these new capabilities.  This work is on the forefront of a rapidly evolving area and provides a unique opportunity to shape the outcomes of a key enterprise priority. 

As part of the ESPE team, the candidate will lead the following processes:

  • Research and design a variety of detailed Climate Risk Stress Test scenarios.  This will entail close partnership with the Climate Risk Management team, Enterprise PMO, Front Line Units, and Forecast teams.
  • Working closely with key business partners on executing on the planned scenarios at a detailed level.  Key business partners include, but are not limited to, Global Risk Analytics Scenario Generation, Credit Risk Management, Market Risk Management, Model Risk Management, Balance Sheet Management, and Corporate Audit
  • Assist in building out ESPE Scenario Generation plans to integrate climate capabilities into the existing ESPE scenario framework (understanding and expanding regulatory scenarios, learning key climate specific business risks, customizing scenarios for enterprise specific risks, review and challenge of macroeconomic environment)
  • ESPE scenario representative for key climate related meetings and routines (US and international regulatory engagement/requests, Climate Program routines, etc.)
  • Ensure BACs overall Climate stress testing and scenario generation capabilities are evolving as our risk management practices and stakeholder expectations evolve

Required Skills:

  • High level of intellectual curiosity both around understanding climate risks and how they interact with BACs stress testing processes
  • Strong communication skills
  • Strong business partnering skills as the role will require significant partnering and influencing outside of the ESPE team to be successful
  • Strong presentation skills both written and verbal
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines

Desired Skills:

  • Prior stress testing, project management, modeling or product experience
  • A working understanding of stress testing (particularly CCAR / DFAST), and/or Recovery and Resolution Planning
  • An understanding of Climate Risk and how both acute and chronic risks may affect Bank of America
