Sr Business Control Specialist- Monitor & Testing

Job Description:

The Compliance and Operational Risk (C&OR) Monitoring and Testing Specialist is responsible for engaging in activities to provide independent compliance and operational risk oversight of Front Line Unit or Control Function (“FLU/CF”) performance against Key Risk and Performance Indicators.  The Monitoring and Testing Specialist executes a portfolio of monitoring and testing activities aligned to a FLU/CF and/or an Access related process. This role assists with the development of a coverage plan which defines the scope and risk-based focus of the team’s risk management activities. The Monitoring and Testing Specialist assists with preparation of materials for regulatory exams/audits/inquiries and may provide consultation to business leaders in preparation for FLU/CF regulatory exams/audits/inquiries.

Responsibilities:

  • Executes a portfolio of independent risk management monitoring and testing activities related to Identity and Access Management
    • Monitoring:  Analyze the performance of data related to  Risk Indicators and Key Performance Indicators, identifying performance below threshold
    • Testing:  Review testing results provided by Enterprise Independent Testing (EIT) and validate results, identify performance below threshold
  • Assesses portfolio of monitoring and testing activities to determine value-add and recommends changes
  • Develops new independent risk management monitoring and testing activities with appropriate Global Risk Management stakeholders, such as Enterprise Independent Testing (EIT)
  • Documents required risk mitigation actions when thresholds are breached, including escalation and debate with owning organization
  • Reviews and challenges remediation plans
  • Contributes to or leads development of risk coverage plans
  • Reviews and challenges the FLU/CF process, risk, control (PRC) inventory and FLU/CF Risk & Control Self-Assessment (RCSA)
  • Analyzes multiple qualitative and quantitative inputs to develop a point of view
  • Required Skills:

  • 3-5 years’ experience in independent risk management roles with Compliance and/or Operational Risk organizations
  • In depth understanding of independent monitoring and testing performed by Compliance and/or Operational Risk organizations
  • Understanding of the concepts and difference between Key Risk Indicators and Key Performance Indicators
  • Advanced/Expert MS Office skills, especially Excel and PowerPoint
  • Must be organized and detail oriented
  • Comfortable performing under stringent deadlines
  • Comfortable escalating and debating with stakeholders
  • Collaborative mindset
  • Excellent communication
