Real Time Communications Engineer

Job Description:


Senior Systems Real Time Communications Engineer accountable for persistent chat design and build. The resource is responsible for designing, building and deploying the Mattermost persistent chat product and will also be instrumental in the strategic design of future state chat products. The role requires extensive technical capabilities as well as the ability to work with a team of senior technical professionals in a high paced environment.


Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for engineering the Mattermost persistent chat product and all components necessary to sustain long term implementation
  • Development of low-level designs
  • Deployment of low-level environments
  • Ensure designs adhere to all Bank compliance and security requirements
  • Contribution to detailed testing
  • Continual ownership for the accuracy and completeness of all technical documentation
  • Active participation in review of requirements for technical feasibility
  • Represent technical requirements for the deployment of new services
  • Participate in regular requirements meetings to groom backlog and agree feature releases
  • Liaison with information security, operations, product management, and vendors to manage product lifecycles, fixes, features and enhancements


Required Skills:

  • 5+ years’ experience of enterprise level engineering; preferably within financial institutions
  • Extensive experience in cloud and on-premise enabled Instant Messaging platforms (e.g. Symphony, Mattermost, Teams, Slack)
  • Experience with mobile chat application deployment via MDM & MAM solutions
  • Experience with deployment of open-source applications
  • Experience implementing services for large enterprises
  • Extensive knowledge and applied experience with:
    • Mattermost
    • MySQL
    • Linux
    • Windows server
  • Detail oriented and quality focused
  • Exceptional communication and personal skills; written, verbal and while presenting to groups
  • Solid understanding of the commercial IT market for hardware and software
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues
  • Self-managed and motivated individual with strong leadership skills
  • Ability to grasp new concepts and quickly adapt to a changing environment
  • Familiarity with Agile project management methodology

Desired Skills:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent education and/or extensive experience (typically 10+ years) in a technology related field
  • Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA)
  • Microsoft 365 Certified: Teams Administrator
