Investor Relations Team Lead

Team Overview

The Investor Relations Team Lead is a member of the Rating Agency & Fixed Income Investor Relations team in the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Group’s Treasury organization. The team serves as the primary relationship point for analysts at credit rating agencies Moody’s, S&P, and Fitch, as well as, less established agencies including DBRS, R&I, and Morningstar.  It also serves as the primary point of contact for fixed income investors and other stakeholders who are interested in BAC’s creditworthiness. This dynamic role provides exposure to all of BAC’s eight lines of business and quarterly financial results, through which the associate can develop an enterprise-wide perspective.

Responsibilities

This individual will primarily focus on helping drive efforts to maintain and enhance the body of work that enables Bank of America’s active, transparent dialogue with the primary rating agencies and fixed income investors, acting as a leader of more junior team members.  These efforts also support effective outreach by the Rating Agency & Fixed Income IR Executive to other key constituencies such as clients and counterparties. A successful candidate will be expected to analyze financial reports and metrics and help identify and incorporate additional information in order to create compelling and influential presentation materials. An emphasis on innovative analysis combined with an active dialogue helps ensure that the rating agency analysts and fixed income investors continue to recognize BAC’s ongoing delivery of responsible growth.

In addition to contributing to the team’s formal outreach efforts, the associate must develop a strong understanding of BAC’s overall financial position, business strategy, and competitor landscape to adequately assist in addressing inquiries from rating agency analysts and fixed income investors. Of note, the associate will be expected to become a subject-matter-expert in the detailed methodologies used by the rating agencies to determine BAC’s credit ratings.

A successful contributor in this role will also need to develop business partner relationships within the broader Investor Relations team, Treasury Regulatory Policy & Advocacy, Corporate Treasury, Global Risk Management, BFO, SEC Reporting, Debt Capital Markets and various other subject-matter-experts across BAC. This team is located in New York, and the role requires the candidate to interact with colleagues in other locations. The ideal candidate for this role is collaborative, self-motivated, intellectually curious, proactive, detail-oriented outgoing and personable.  Given the nature of the team’s work, the individual must exhibit a strong drive to lead the execution a variety of deliverables on time and to an exceptional quality standard, while maintaining flexibility and capacity to address ad hoc requests.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree - or related work experience

  • Minimum 6 years of experience in financial services

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including strong proficiency in creating compelling presentation materials for senior or external audiences

  • Strong financial acumen, including experience sourcing, interpreting, analyzing and manipulating financial statements and related data of BAC and/or financial institutions to draw relevant competitor comparisons and conclusions

  • Well-developed skills with Excel, Word and PowerPoint; familiarity with Bloomberg is also desirable

  • Keen organizational and leadership skills, including the ability to juggle multiple tasks and responsibilities and effectively delegate tasks among team members, including willingness and flexibility to work evenings and weekends, as will occasionally be required of this role

  • Comfortable networking with and regularly reaching out to peer or more senior business partners to gather data to facilitate analyses and create presentation materials

  • Familiarity with Operational Excellence efforts, including understanding of automating manual processes, streamlining day-to-day workflows and using technology tools to enhance output

  • Detailed knowledge of current Line of Business or Function

Desired Skills & Experience

  • Prior experience with the major rating agencies and their methodologies is desirable

  • Familiarity with equity and/or debt capital markets is preferred

  • Familiarity with Sourcing/Vendor management requirements and processes

This role may be filled as a Capital Management - Senior Finance Manager or as a Capital Management - Finance Manager based on skills and experience.
