GWIM & Consumer Mortgage Controller Team – Senior Product / Specialty Controller

Charlotte, North Carolina

Job Description:

The GWIM & Consumer Mortgage Controller team is part of the CFO-Global Financial Control organization. The primary focus of our team is ensuring the accuracy of the books and records of the bank and supporting our business partners.  Our business partners include Product BFOs, GWIM Finance, Consumer Mortgage Finance, LOB Operations, Regulatory Reporting, Accounting Policy and other Enterprise teams.

This role is responsible for directing core day-to-day accounting and external reporting functions for GWIM & Consumer Mortgage.  This includes accounting review and determination, monthly close & reporting, external reporting, and product business/finance support.  This role will also help design, develop, and execute changes that will make us a more effective and efficient organization.

Activities include:

  • Review and approve month-end close responsibilities (e.g., accounting calculations / journal entries, product reviews, trial balance review).
  • Review and analyze monthly financial results and review internal management reports
  • Document SOX requirements and enhance controls as required
  • Support & influence business partners
  • Design, develop, and implement process improvements that reduce risk/costs, improve operations, and enhance user experience
  • Optimize new technology to better serve stakeholder needs

Required Skills

  • 8+ years of financial experience
  • BA/BS Degree preferably in Finance/Accounting
  • Demonstrates deep and broad business acumen
  • Able to understand large complex transactions and simplify to its key components
  • Interest and/or ability to understand technology products and services
  • Proven analytical capability/skills; proven change/project management; consulting and problem resolution capabilities; detail oriented
  • Moves quickly from concept to action; able to establish priorities and achieve results
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity
  • Data analysis skills and ability create executive quality materials within tight timeframes with limited direction
  • Excellent interpersonal and project management skills
  • Credibility to influence business partners, peers, and management
  • Familiarity with the bank’s financial systems
  • Unquestionable business and personal integrity

  • Previous management experience

This role is posted as a Senior Product/ Specialty Controller, but can be filled as a Product/Specialty Controller based on qualifications of a strong Product/Specialty Controller.
