Alternative Investments Product Specialist

Job Description:

Position Summary

  • Assist in the coordination of sales efforts for the Merrill Lynch Alternative Investments platform -including private equity, hedge funds, managed futures, real assets, non-traditional mutual funds and other alternative investment strategies.
  • Review existing client Alternative Investment portfolios and provide fund level updates and return attribution
  • Responsible for being proactive in scheduling meetings within respective territories, being resourceful with inbound inquiries and being reliable in helping support service related inquiries
  • Partner with field-based Alternative Investments Specialists, working closely as a dedicated home-office based resource in covering territory
  • Respond to in depth service requests and provide a response in a timely manner
  • Coordinate the efforts of third party wholesalers/resources within the respective territory
  • Lead outbound communications for updates relating to AI platform and fund changes

Desired skills and experience:

  • 1-3 years' experience in financial services
  • Understanding of the wealth management industry              
  • Experience with alternative investments preferred, but not required
  • Demonstrated ability to explain complex concepts clearly and simply
  • Excellent communication and listening skills
  • Prior sales and marketing experience preferred but not required
  • Must be a team player with the ability to work effectively in a team or independently
  • Ability to represent the firm professionally with internal and external contacts
  • The ideal candidate should be highly motivated and organized
  • Knowledge of Excel, Word, and PowerPoint programs is a plus

You will be better prepared if you have

  • BS / BA degree or equivalent work experience
  • Completion of Series 7 and 66 (or combined 63 & 65)
  • Completion of or progress toward CFA/CAIA
  • Knowledge of Salesforce and Tableau
