Authentication Strategy Leader

What is Authentication and why is it so important?

Authentication is a complex set of processes by which we ensure we are dealing with the true customer whenever we are interacting with our clients.  This is a critical function that has direct impact on the customer experience, fraud losses, and operating expenses for the company.  It is also a key strategic capability for the business that continues to grow in importance as our interactions become more virtual and the scale and sophistication of fraud risks increase.  As a result, the company is investing nearly $20MM/year to transform our capabilities and enable future business innovation.

As the Authentication Strategy Team Leader you will…

Lead the transformation of authentication at BofA by defining the strategy and running Authentication as a business.  This leader will serve as the “General Manager” and strategy owner for all Consumer and SBB authentication processes and channels including Financial Center, Contact Center, Digital, & ATM.  Strategically, this role will develop partnerships across the company with leaders from product, technology, fraud risk, etc. to develop an integrated authentication strategy, technology roadmap, and robust performance monitoring plan.  This business leader will be responsible for the management, development and direction of a team of six talented channel strategy leaders.  This is a unique opportunity to lead and develop the strategic vision for a critical set of highly visible capabilities - and then actually bring that vision to life.

You’ll be expected to (specific responsibilities)…

  • Partner across organizational lines to lead the development of the Authentication strategy and technology roadmap.
  • Build and lead cross-functional teams to solve complex, high impact business problems.
  • Leverage insights from data & analytics, industry forums, and channel partners to identify and drive new ideas on improving customer experience, operational efficiency, and fraud risk.
  • Develop compelling, data driven business cases for transformation initiatives.  Lead efforts to prioritize investments in authentication capabilities.
  • Develop and oversee the execution of the authentication project roadmap.
  • Facilitate regular routines for channel authentication stakeholders and senior executives.  Build and lead cross-functional teams to solve complex, high impact business problems.
  • Develop integrated scorecard to monitor authentication performance and stability.

You’re a person who (required skills)…

  • Has 7+ years of work experience, including at least 2+ years leading teams.
  • Thinks strategically and applies critical thinking to identify and solve problems.  Has a proven track record of being able to take projects from idea to execution.  Data-driven decision making.
  • Is adept at working across organizational lines and levels to drive results.  Is able to influence and navigate stakeholders effectively at an executive level.
  • Demonstrates strong listening, communication and presentation skills.
  • Has prior experience in developing policy, business, and/or technology requirements for initiatives.
  • Has earned a 4 year college degree.

You’ll be better prepared if you have (desired skills)…

  • Prior work experience as a digital product or digital business owner.
  • Fraud risk management or equivalent experience in a similar, quantitatively-oriented risk field.
  • Prior consulting experience and or process improvement training (Six Sigma, Lean, etc.).
