Business Analyst – Enterprise Capital Management

Job Description:

The Business Analyst role is part of the Enterprise Capital Management (ECM) Business Management and Governance team (BMG). The BMG team responsibilities encompass front-line capital-related governance, technology & business initiatives, regulatory engagement, operational risk management, internal and external audit management, and business operations. The Business Analyst will work in a fast-paced, challenging environment and will gain exposure to a wide variety of capital-related initiatives including upcoming regulatory changes. This role involves collaboration and problem solving with business partners across Treasury, Technology, Finance, Compliance, and Risk. 

ECM is a global team of more than 100 professionals responsible for the efficient and prudent management of the Corporation's as well as its subsidiaries' capital across the enterprise globally. ECM implements the Board’s capital management strategy including issuance, redemption or repurchase of common stock and other capital instruments. ECM works closely with lines of business and guides them to efficiently and proactively manage the enterprise's capital including design and implementation of capital allocation methodologies. ECM also recommends capital related financial resource limits to senior management. In addition, ECM produces and monitors regulatory and internal economic capital metrics including capital adequacy ratios, leverage exposure and risk-weighted assets and oversees the end to end capital measurement process across the enterprise. Partnering with other control functions, ECM manages external disclosures related to capital management including 10Q, 10K, Pillar 3 disclosures and other regulatory filings‎. ECM interfaces with banking regulators globally on all capital related matters.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the ECM controls framework and prepare operational risk deliverables including the Risk and Controls Self-Assessment (RCSA), Single Process Inventory (SPI), control metrics and management dashboards

  • Monitor and manage capital regulatory change including performing gap assessment and closure

  • Maintain Basel 3 capital regulatory requirements traceability

  • Provide project management and develop content for regulatory initiatives such as Comprehensive Capital Analysis and Review (CCAR) and the Fundamental Review of the Trading Book (FRTB)

  • Lead departmental audit exams, SOX reviews, regulatory exams, compliance testing, operational risk reviews and issue resolution

  • Design processes and develop procedures to comply with the Capital Management Policy and other internal policies and requirements

  • Conduct governance activities in support of the Capital Measurement and Allocation Committee (CMAC) and the Capital Control Council (CCC)

  • Lead ad hoc projects and process improvements, driving results and coordinating stakeholders from multiple functional areas

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience

  • 3-5 years of experience working within a large bank in a control function role, regulatory, process improvement or similar experience

  • Project management experience with demonstrated results, a plus

  • Strong written communication skills, including procedure writing

  • Effective meeting management and partnering skills aligning stakeholders, building consensus and resolving conflicts

  • Self-starter and able to work with limited supervision

  • Able to work on multiple high priority projects at once, flexibility in a changing environment

  • Excellent attention to detail

  • Excel, PowerPoint

  • Knowledge of capital management or other finance area, desired
