Home Equity Mortgage Underwriting & Fulfillment Manager

Job Description:

THIS JOB CODE REQUIRES SAFE ACT REGISTRATION. Manages a team of residential first or second mortgage underwriters ensuring compliance with established policies and procedures.  Has approval authority for more complex loan requests and exceptions to policy.  Has responsibility for operations management including Hoshin goals, load leveling, staffing, coaching and performance management.  May help coordinate on-site investor audits. This position may be subject to SAFE Act registration requirements.  Pursuant to the SAFE Act requirements, all applicants for employment who will be engaged in residential loan mortgage originations (as defined by the SAFE Act) must register with the federal registry system and maintain a status in good standing under the SAFE ACT requirements.  If at any time the Bank determines that your position requires SAFE Act registration, you will be required to register and to submit to the required SAFE Act background check and registration process.  Failure to register successfully or to maintain a status in good standing under the SAFE Act will affect your eligibility for continued employment and may result in your immediate termination.

Required Skills:

Recent  Underwriting experience is preferred

Possesses in-depth knowledge of a variety of loan products and program guidelines Excellent attention to detail

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Excellent problem solving and customer service skills

Thorough understanding of underwriting and credit and an ability to review complex financial documents

Strong organizational and interpersonal skills

Proven Leadership experience

Ability to deliver a difficult message with confidence

Ability to prioritize multiple competing tasks and manage time effectively in a fast paced environment, while practicing sound lending judgment

Ability to motivate associates to meet production, quality  and service standards along with providing direct coaching and feedback to ensure quality and an exquisite customer experience

Effectively handle customer calls to drive for an exquisite customer experience Proficient with computers and strong typing skills

Experience in building relationships and partnership across the company 

Ability to build partnerships across the organization to ensure efficiency and achieve customer  satisfaction

Desired Skills: 

Previous supervisory experience of a mortgage loan processing team

Understanding of various income sources including Self-Employment income calculations and tax analysis

ACAPS Experience

Experience in reviewing legal documents such as Trust and Power of Attorneys, etc

Ability to make and recommend exceptions within existing risk framework
