Software Engineer III

Job Description:

This role would suit an experienced developer who is looking to further grow their business and technical skills and work closely as part of a high-profile XVA Counterparty Portfolio Management Technology development and BAU team in a critical business area (XVA Enterprise Stress Testing/FRY 14Q Schedule L reporting process). The team works closely with trading, quant, middle office and market risk teams in New York, London, and Chicago, as well as business analysts, project managers, and other technology partners to ensure successful delivery, implementation, and support of application solutions in a dynamic/Agile environment. The responsibilities include design, development, testing, deployment, and providing 3rd level production support tasks including answering business user questions. The candidate should have the ability to achieve subject matter expertise quickly on new applications as needed and requires proven track record in developing applications using Python/Java/C++ , SQL,  Oracle, and/or Shell Scripting. Design, develop, and maintain high-performance systems in trading/risk management platform .Help shape Strategic goals for our systems and then deliver toward those goals .Bring the team along with you by sharing experiences while fostering talent in others and giving /seeking advice

Research and analyze data processing functions, methods and procedures

Monitor application execution for expected performance. Ensure data is consistent and can be cleanly reported from.

Front Office experience or demonstrable potential to adapt to a front office environment

Derivatives market knowledge is preferred

Seen a project through from inception to completion may be over multiple years and challenges

Ability to model data and systems in ways that can grow and be maintained.

Substantial programming and unit testing experience.

An overwhelming urge to solve complex problems without being told to do so.

Exceptional knowledge of computer science/engineering. Working in an environment using Python/Java/C++, SQL, Oracle, Unix

Responsible for designing and developing complex requirements to accomplish business goals. Ensures that software is developed to meet functional, non-functional, and compliance requirements. Ensures solutions are well designed with maintainability/ease of integration and testing built-in from the outset. Possess strong proficiency in development and testing practices common to the industry, and have extensive experience of using design and architectural patterns. At this level, specializations start to form in either Architecture, Test Engineering or DevOp. Contributes to story refinement/defining requirements. Participates and guides team in estimating work necessary to realize a story/requirement through the delivery lifecycle. Performs spike/proof of concept as necessary to mitigate risk or implement new ideas. Codes solutions and unit tests to deliver a requirement/story per the defined acceptance criteria and compliance requirements. Utilizes multiple architectural components (across data, application, business) in design and development of client requirements. Assists team with resolving technical complexities involved in realizing story work. Designs/develops/modifies architecture components, application interfaces, and solution enablers while ensuring principal architecture integrity is maintained. Designs/develops/maintains automated test suites (integration, regression, performance). Sets up and develops a continuous integration/continuous delivery pipeline. Automates manual release activities. Mentors other Software Engineers and coaches team on CI-CD practices and automating tool stack. Individual contributor.

Required Skills:

  • 4+ Years of experience in implementing successful  development projects including Level 3 production support using Python/ JAVA/C++, PL/SQL, SQL, Oracle, Unix
