Feature Lead – Chicago, IL or Charlotte, NC

Job Description:

Responsible for providing leadership, technical direction, and oversight to a team as they deliver technology solutions. Develops solutions and processes for delivering features based on their knowledge of design/architectural patterns and Agile/DevOps practices. Ensures the systems design and requirements are aligned to achieve the desired business outcomes, and that team practices and coding/quality principles are aligned to achieve the desired technology outcomes. They have built significant experience through multiple software implementations and has developed both depth and breadth in a number of technical competencies. Designs and develops and is accountable for feature delivery. Applies enterprise standards for solution design, coding and quality. Ensures solution meets product acceptance criteria with minimal technical debt. Responsible for compliance and security items and audit support at the team level. Acts as a liaison for production activities/issues. Works with Product Owner to ensure that product backlog/requirements are healthy, with clear acceptance criteria. Guides the team on work breakdown and execution. Plays a team lead role (as an individual contributor) and mentors the team. Guides team members with skills and practices (planning & estimation, peer reviews and other engineering practices). Identifies skill and role gaps, and works with Technology Manager to address them. Works with Technology Manager in creating resource contingency plans where required. Individual contributor.

Overview:

This Senior Feature Lead position will be a key leader in the Wholesale Credit Workforce Optimization program (“NextGen”) to lead deliverables, working closely with senior business and technology partners ensuring continued success of the program. This is a large, transformative, multi-year program and part of bank’s digital push.

The individual is expected to have an excellent understanding of Bank of America processes and procedures as they relate to software delivery and risk management. Ability to engage senior business and technology partners and diplomatically influence, get buy-in from stakeholders is a must. As a feature lead, the role will provide significant inputs into the product roadmap feasibility and timelines for implementation of complex product features across several globally distributed feature teams.

They will manage assignments, work focus and deliverables, coordination across applications and environment while assisting Senior Technology Managers and a Release Train Engineer to apply strong leadership and direction ensuring the application teams meet all initiative and BAU commitments. As the environment coordinator they will work with Senior Technology Managers, a Release Train Engineer, and Product Owners across several Agile teams, CTO partners, and L2 support groups to coordinate the planning, implementation and roll-out of new features is consistent and delights the customers.

A critical component of the success in this role is an expert level understanding of: Wholesale Credit, Bank of America’s Client Reference Data standards, Risk Management, and Information Protection standards around who can see what and the restrictions around data visibility. Ability to engage compliance and information security teams and provide a walk-through of the complex security rules of the platform are a must.

The position offers opportunities in expanding the above areas as well as growing in other development areas within the application team. 

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure on time and within budget delivery on all committed product deliverables
  • Ensure Systems Team handles AIT, RISE, ADSF and other critical risk deliverables
  • Work with vendors, development teams, CTO teams, Vendor Management to ensure proper plans, execution and communication are in place to fully meet the deliverables
  • On time and within budget delivery on all initiative development and BAU work by leading or participating as needed activities like
  • Collaborate with Product and Operations LOB partners
  • Participate in estimates of the development work, solution designs
  • Ensure proper production implementation and post-implementation support of solutions
  • Timely addressing BAU items
  • Coordinate remediation of GIS and Compliance security findings
  • Plan implementation of bug fixes and enhancements
  • Respond to external and internal audits
  • Manage the responses to incoming ad hoc requests from LOB (Product, Operations, or client questions coming through Operations Support
  • Be a go-to SME for the overall product roadmap
  • Have continued focus on improving and sustaining the applications’ performance and stability
  • Instill and maintain an efficient and consistent approach in planning, execution, and communication of the environment work
  • Coordinate, plan, ensure flawless execution and full technical and functional application validation of new releases
  • Assist in the planning of the environment availability and end-to-end swim lanes for application deployments and testing (functional and performance) in lower environments through production
  • Work with CTO partners and the application teams to have a sustainable process and efficient execution for all these activities
  • Assist in release and deployment planning and implementation
  • Become a subject matter expert on these applications and thoroughly understand the architecture and business interactions within Global Trade Finance

Required skills:

  • 15+ years of industry experience in the financial domain
  • Strong understanding of SDLC and Bank of America’s best practices for SAFe Agile including feature teams, PI planning and associated tools
  • Strong influencer with substantial Wholesale Credit and Client Data domain knowledge
  • Strong experience in coordinating the deployment of changes through non-production and production environments
  • Release and deployment planning and execution experience
  • Coordination understanding and experience in meeting deliverables on time and within budget
  • Proven work in agile environment within a well-defined Software Engineering or Delivery role
  • Positive and entrepreneurial ‘can do’ attitude with desire to make positive impact
  • Proven strong collaboration and organizational skills in leading within a matrixed work environment
