Software engineer / developer role in the BAML electronic trading desk, collaborating on the development and data modelling of a real-time/historical infrastructure for ingestion, enrichment, and streaming of big data analytics to drive business intelligence globally and raise alerts to monitor live trading.

Detailed responsibilities will include:

Interviewing business sponsors to understand software requirements

Communicating business requirements to fellow software developers

Designing and implementing software programs mostly in the Java programming language

Troubleshooting and debugging issues during software development using software tools such as IntelliJ

The candidate must have a data/technology driven skill set with strong experience in scalable, distributed, extensible data technologies and a focus on high quality data analytics/infrastructure.

 

Mandatory skills:

 

• Strong core Java 8

• Demonstrable experience solving performance issues (scalability, latency...) in distributed architectures

• Demonstrable knowledge and experience solving complex multithreading and concurrency problems

• Demonstrable experience designing data models using SQL and databases (Cassandra and/or Oracle)

• Strong knowledge and experience in financial data sets and quality management (FIX, market data, product reference)

• Instrument-specific financial knowledge: Equities/Derivatives

• Experience in the front-office

• Experience with working in a team using Agile methodology notably testing strategies.

• Experience with day-to-day continuous development tools like IntelliJ, Git, Maven, Jenkins

• Ability to effectively communicate designs and ideas within a global team

• Experience working on Agile projects, with Scrum approach, using JIRA

• Junit/Mockito

Desired skills:

• Kafka

• Storm

• Spring

• ELK Stack

• Statistics / Data science skill set
