Retail Strategy Client Quantitative Analyst I

Job Description:

We are looking for an analyst to join the Retail Strategy Analytics team to support the fraud and claims organization, which includes operations, fraud prevention and detection, claims and losses across all consumer and small business products and channels. 

This Analyst will provide ad hoc analytics to the Fraud and Claims (FCSO) team, producing key measurements used to assess trends, regulatory adherence, assessment of claim and detection operations, and the effectiveness of fraud strategies and tactics.   Working under the direction of a team leader this analyst will translate business priorities into an analytical approach and then locate and leverage the most appropriate data for the usage.  This individual must enjoy data mining and data research to navigate the complexities and nuances of consumer fraud and claims data.   This position will provide opportunities to participate in dialogue with the line of business, including senior leaders, and work output will inform effective use of resources, client impact, loss and revenue implications, emerging risks, and operating strategies to ensure company goals are met.

The Analyst will navigate the organization to source, link and compile data appropriately, conferring with teammates and LoB experts to deliver valuable insights.  They will create presentations that demonstrate conclusions, implications and actionable recommendations to stakeholders.

This role includes the support of regulatory and audit related requests, which involves organizing appropriate regulatory responses, and maintaining quality records and documentation throughout the project lifecycle to reduce our risk exposure.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Utilize data from heterogeneous sources (structured and unstructured) with various levels of data quality to construct meaningful analysis and insights to business questions.  Common data platforms include Hadoop, Teradata, and SQL Server.
  • Provide fraud and claims partners with actionable insights to track and analyze losses, improve prevention and detection, manage workflow, insure adherence to control standards. 
  • Build a network outside immediate team, across organizational boundaries, to gain knowledge of the fraud and claims business processes as well as the data environment and be able to link the products and processes to the data
  • Partner with technology and Reporting COE teams to develop repeatable solutions to support most commonly requested metrics
  • Translate business questions into analytics projects with clear objectives, create and maintain work tracking documentation
  • Present insights, implications and actionable recommendations to stakeholders and analytics leaders

Required Experience:

  • Minimum of Bachelor's degree, or relevant experience with strong quantitative background in Data Analytics, Statistics, Mathematics, or Economics
  • 2+ years of analytics experience in support of reporting and/or analysis for operational processes
  • 3+ years of hands-on analytics experience with ability to use SAS, SQL, R and/or PYTHON to find and deliver data from various databases and platforms
  • Comfortable and effective in tackling unstructured analytical challenges
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills with the ability to summarize and interpret large amounts of data and translate into meaningful insights
  • Project management experience with ability to adapt to changing priorities
  • Strong partnering skills, able to work collaboratively across teams
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with technical, non-technical and executive roles 
  • Experience working with Hadoop, Teradata, and SQL Server.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and Power Point

Desired Skills:

  • Financial services experience, specific experience with fraud and claims
  • Consultative background to engage and influence business partners
  • Working knowledge of advanced analytic techniques including propensity models, segmentation, and decision trees
  • Advanced degree in business or statistics
