Job Title: Tech Mgr-Sys Eng

Role Description:

This role is responsible for supporting day to day Storage Operations team’s activities including but not limited to incident and service request tickets, dealing with customer enquiries, risk mitigation, pre and post migration planning/support.

The Team:

Support SAN, NAS and CAS Storage operations environment consisting of Dell, Netapps, HP, Hitachi, Brocade and Cisco products. Provide shift cover through week and On call and weekend work coverage for issues and planned work required.  

Core Skills:

  • Deep knowledge of BLOCK (DELL EMC SAN Arrays) and preferably FILE (NetApp and ISILON) infrastructure design and operation needed for various BAU, build, support, troubleshooting, capacity planning and reporting and other planned activities (security patching, code upgrades, migration etc.)
  • Basic OBJECT knowledge is optional (Hitachi HCP, EMC Centera):
  • Basic scripting knowledge for languages such as Perl, Python, Bash, REST API etc
  • An understanding of Agile methodology and JIRA tooling
  • Working with LINUX servers required for day-to-day management of infrastructure
  • Working knowledge of UNIX and WINDOWS preferred to assist drive resolution with any incidents
    • Infrastructure is predominantly Brocade, Cisco, NetApp, ISILON, Symmetrix
    • Understanding of Shares (CIFS / NFS), LUNs, SAN fabrics etc
    • From deployment, operate, maintain and decommission
  • Perform out of hours migration activities from legacy hardware Symmetrix VMAX to Symmetrix PMAX
    • This includes working with the Project Manager to plan and prepare for the migrations
  • Work seamlessly with the EMEA team and provide additional support where required for the global teams in AMRS and APAC
    • Driving resolution of incidents including RCA's where required using the ITIL framework (ITSM)
    • Includes routines meetings with EMEA storage team and project teams
    • Participate in an on-call ROTA.  The storage team is a 24x7 team with Global teams assisting for OOH support
    • Executing BAU requests through ticketing systems
    • Provide start of day health-checks as part of the ROTA
  • Adhering to global engineering standards and provide input into environment strategy and design.
  • Proactively identifying opportunity for cost reduction and enhancement within the environment
  • Liaison with vendors to understand and track key engineering issues impacting the environment.
  • Proactively seek opportunities to enhance processes and reduce risk
  • Confidently communicate with the team members to improve operational process and reduce risk
  • Ability to execute tasks on their own and with a team to drive resolution and or project delivery
  • Management reporting, collecting metrics to illustrate progress of existing issues and or projects
  • Adherence to strict Change Control procedures through ITIL framework (ITSM)
    • Create, manage and execute change control on their own

Ability to self-organise and prioritise tasks to ensure deadlines are met.
