Software Engineer

Job Description:

This position requires the developer to work closely with Business and System Analyst team to understand the system requirements and translate them into low-level design and implement the application code as per the standard coding pattern and guidelines.

You will develop shared components that will be used across the application and knowledge of frameworks and patterns that is used in building shared components is critical.

The developer is also required to unit test the code and package the code for deployment to higher lanes all up to Production environment.

The developer will be responsible to work with quality assurance and product certification teams to provide support and fixes identified  during the lifecycle of application testing and certification.


This includes Design and develop web-based applications for the Benefits Online platform using Core Java, Servlets, SOAP, JSON and REST, XML(Extended Meta Language), HTML5, CSS3, jQuery, AJAX.

Interact with various technology, business and product teams during the life-cycle of projects to discuss production support-related issues.

Provide production support of all applications on Benefits Online platform, including applications for 401K, Non-Qualified plans, Defined Benefits, (ESPP) Employee Stock Purchase Plan, ExSOP (Executive Stock Option Plans) and Content Management application.

The developer is also required to unit test the code and package the code for deployment to higher lanes all up to Production environment.

The developer will be responsible to work with quality assurance and product certification teams to provide support and fixes identified  during the lifecycle of application testing and certification

Required Skills:

  • Experience in Core Java, developing J2EE Applications involving JSP and Servlets

  • Experience with IDE like Eclipse or NetBeans or IntelliJ.

  • App Server experience in deploying J2EE applications using Websphere  or Tomcat or Apache.

  • Experience on WebApi.

  • Working knowledge on HandleBar/ AngularJS/ React, JavaScript, jquery, client-side technologies.

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.

Desired Skills:

Working knowledge and experience of Microsoft.Net Framework 4.0 or higher with proficiency in .Net Core, C#, and WCF services. Strong understanding of the structure and logic of Object-Oriented programming.
 

Expertise in web technologies including ASP.Net, .Net MVC, client-side technologies including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, JQuery, Bootstrap.
 

Knowledge of Oracle and T-SQL.
 

Experience in financial domain.
 

Excellent written/verbal communication skills
 

Self-motivated and demonstrates a willingness to accept additional responsibilities and projects.

Contributes to existing test suites (integration, regression, performance); Analyzes test reports, identifies any test issues/errors; Triages the underlying cause.

Documents and communicates required information for deployment, maintenance, support, and business functionality.

Participates, contributes and can coach team members in the delivery/release (CI-CD) events. e.g. branching timelines, pull requests, issue triage, merge/conflict resolution, release notes.
