Attorney - Executive Compensation & Benefits

Job Description:

The attorney will provide legal counsel on employee benefits and executive compensation matters across the enterprise.

Specific duties will include:

  • Providing legal support for HR and benefits executives for matters throughout the employee and executive lifecycle, including in matters related to new hires, in-service employees, and departing individuals     
  • Providing legal support related to the design and operation of executive compensation plans and arrangements, including equity awards
  • Providing legal advice related to executive compensation-related disclosures, such as proxy statements and Section 16 filings
  • Providing legal support related to global regulatory compliance for compensation arrangements
  • Providing legal support related to employee benefit plans, such as qualified and nonqualified retirement plans, health and welfare plans, and cafeteria plans
  • Providing legal support related to fringe benefit and perquisite reporting

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Juris Doctor from an ABA accredited institution.
  • Admitted to state bar in good standing.
  • 5+ years experience practicing in the area of compensation and benefits.
  • Experience with relevant SEC disclosure rules and IRC provisions
  • Experience with ERISA and qualified and nonqualified plans.
  • Experience with executive offer letters and separation agreements
  • Ability to work collaboratively on a solutions-focused self-directed team.
  • Ability to work effectively with all levels of the organization.
  • Strong project management skills

DESIRED SKILLS:

  • 7+ years experience practicing in the area of compensation and benefits with an executive compensation focus.
  • Knowledge of executive compensation issues related to the financial services industry.
  • Experience with publicly traded companies.
  • International compensation and benefits experience.
