Operations Team Lead- Return Item Research

Job Description:

Resolves Return Item Research (RIR) inquiries within the bank's practices and procedures. Reports to Operations Manager. Responsibilities include: investigates daily incoming research and adjustment inquiries; resolves differences; answers service requests and inquiries received from various channels; determines accounting entries and makes appropriate disposition. Maintains internal operational and financial controls and ensures that they are observed for all assigned exception types. Ensures that team analysts resolve exceptions in compliance with industry regulations and bank procedures, integrity levels of the department's case management system and financial controls. Reviews operations procedures and implements changes and ensures the enforcement and adherence to operations procedures. Provides guidance to staff and may handle escalated exception items or unusual situations, referring to more complex problems. Will provide support to and training to other researchers within the department. Has thorough knowledge of the RIR functions which require analytical and problem resolution skills.

Required Skills:

  • Minimum 3-5 years of operational experience.

  • Minimum of 2 years research experience.

  • Proficient PC and calculator skills

  • Strong MS Office suite skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

  • Strong organizational and time management skills

  • Effective attention to detail and accuracy

  • Strong written & verbal communication skills

  • Customer/client focus

  • People oriented

  • Ability to motivate analysts to reach LOB SLA goals daily.

  • Consistently meets established performance standards on all job assignments

  • Working knowledge of debit/credit and banking regulations

  • Understands how his/her role relates to the business unit objectives

  • Easily adapts to and supports change

  • Check processing knowledge and previous banking experience

Desired skills:

  • Basic understanding of upstream/downstream business partner processes (i.e, IP, Returns, TCE, OD Services, IRC, ARP, Lockbox, etc.)

  • Exposure to Bank systems such as R3, Imageview, Content Navigator, IRX, EDR, Fed & SVPCO, and thorough knowledge of check functions.

  • Mainframe Applications (ex.BOSS/FAST)
