ETL Datastage Developer

The Developer work side by side with business partners to ensure expected quality software is built to serve our customers and clients. They will be responsible for understanding the business requirements, build/enhance application components to support the requirement, enabling testing organization to certify the application, Support technology infrastructure team in production deployment and transitioning to support team. The Developer is expected to learn the business and technical components of an application and work with their peers to follow enterprise software development methodologies. Routine accountability is for technical knowledge and capabilities.

Responsibilities:

  • Will be responsible for requirements analysis, High Level Design, Low Level Design and complex code development

  • May provide technical direction and system architecture for individual initiatives. Serves as a fully seasoned/proficient technical resource.

  • Communicates with line of business and management the overall status and health of the application.

  • Excellent communication skills. Demonstrate ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical partners.

  • Understand the organization’s overall strategies, how the business operates and more importantly what drives success in the business.

  • Must be willing and able to express new ideas, concerns and opinions directly to wider team in team meetings face-to-face and via remote-working tools.

  • May collaborate with external programmers to coordinate delivery of software application.

  • Routine accountability is for technical knowledge and capabilities.

  • Works under minimal supervision, with general guidance from more seasoned consultants.

  • Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills

Required Skills:

  • Requires 7-10 years of development experience in DataStage / ETL Tools

  • Hands on development/debugging of IBM Datastage v8.7 or higher ETL jobs in a grid/cluster environment

  • ETL, Packages and Functions

  • Experience creating/debugging Unix Shell Scripts (KSH, BASH)

  • Knowledge of Unix/Linux basics

  • Creating/Maintaining/managing CA Autosys job schedules

  • Experience with IBM Sterling Connect: Direct NDM

Desired Skills:

  • Experience in Banking and Finance domain.

  • ETL experience.

  • SQL development in a DB2 AND/OR Oracle environment

  • Agile software delivery

  • ITIL Change, Incident and problem management process

  • Data testing and ETL functional test automation Experience working in Agile teams

Responsible for developing and delivering complex software requirements to accomplish business goals. Ensures that software is developed to meet functional, non-functional, and compliance requirements. Codes solutions, unit tests, and ensures the solution can be integrated successfully into the overall application/system with clear, robust and well-tested interfaces. Familiar with development and testing practices of the bank. Contributes to story refinement/defining requirements. Participates and guides team in estimating work necessary to realize a story/requirement through the delivery lifecycle. Performs spike/proof of concept as necessary to mitigate risk or implement new ideas. Contributes to existing test suites (integration, regression, performance); Analyzes test reports, identifies any test issues/errors; Triages the underlying cause. Documents and communicates required information for deployment, maintenance, support, and business functionality. Participates, contributes and can coach team members in the delivery/release (CI-CD) events. e.g. branching timelines, pull requests, issue triage, merge/conflict resolution, release notes. Individual contributor.
