Tax Advisor Team Lead – Executive Advisory Services

Business Overview

Executive Advisory Services (EAS) is a team of advisors providing customized wealth planning, tax planning, and tax preparation services to the senior leaders at Bank of America.  EAS helps executives identify, prioritize and meet wealth structuring, cash flow, philanthropic, and education funding goals.  EAS also assists executives with tax preparation and planning.  EAS coordinates with business partners to assist executives navigate internal and external regulatory requirements. EAS also coordinates with business partners to assist the executives navigate bank resources, benefits and compensation plans. 

Role Overview

  • EAS tax practice leader.
  • Reports to EAS director and a member of the EAS leadership team.
  • Manages EAS accountants who are responsible for tax preparation services for EAS tax clients.
  • Final reviewer of all tax returns and signs all tax returns.
  • Responsible for risk management of tax team, achieving client focused service standards and complying with bank standards and policies, and federal and state tax laws.
  • Well respected internally and externally with proven ability to partner effectively.
  • Reviewing and evaluating the impact of any new tax laws, regulations or other authorities impacting EAS clients.  Implement changes to processes and guidelines necessary to comply with such new tax laws or regulations.
  • Partner with EAS client advisors and teams to deliver effective tax planning and strategies.
  • Participate with entire EAS team in EAS tool development and maintenance.

Enterprise Role Overview

Responsible for moderately complex tax planning, forecasting, and/or advisory responsibilities. Activities include complying with complex tax reporting requirements of various governmental jurisdictions in a manner that minimizes tax liabilities; researching tax issues, developing effective tax minimization strategies; and providing business unit support to business partners on more complex issues. May manage moderately complex business partner relationships and will have depth of expertise for relevant area.

Competency and Qualifications

  • 7+ years in public accounting or corporate tax department.  Concentration of exposure to tax preparation and planning for high net worth individuals.
  • BS/BA degree required. 
  • Required CPA designation or IRS enrolled agent.
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written; ability to articulate complex concepts to a non-specialist audience.
  • Demonstrated research skills - ability to communicate and analyze multi-dimensional data & draw conclusions.
  • Ability to successfully work within a team based client service model.  Fosters collaboration.
  • Computer literate with capabilities to utilize tax projection and preparation software and familiar with an electronic tax preparation and filing environment.
