Data Strategy - Strategic Coordination and Implementation (SCI) Analyst

Job Description:

In a data driven economy, strategic data asset management is foundational to add to the enterprise value. Within GRM, we are formalizing the Data Strategy & Management (DSM) function and establishing a new team underneath – Strategic Coordination and Implementation (SCI) team.

Under DSM Executive’s leadership, the SCI team will develop a holistic vision on how best to structure data sourcing and control strategy for GRM so it can unlock business value. This role provides SCI team with a broad platform to build partnerships with business and risk counterparts, a vantage point to explore end-to-end data ecosystems and technologies, and ability to influence data strategies that drive the greatest value across the lines of business.

ROLE DESCRIPTION

  • This role will support the SCI Leads to evaluate current data ecosystems; define target state, identify appropriate controls; and drive development of their data strategies and roadmaps for data capture, transport, and use related to assessing and remediating risk. 

  • Facilitate discovery and documentation of data pipelines, systems/processes/controls mapping and modeling.

  • Drive strong partnerships across the organization to fully understand their business goals and link to data needs.

  • Collaborate with GRM Data Users, Data Stewards, Data Owners and enterprise technology teams to develop requirements for strategic data initiatives in alignment with the data strategy and enterprise data governance standards.

  • Develop and drive enforcement of standards for robust data governance.

  • Demonstrate advanced understanding of data, systems, processes and policies for area supported. 

  • Consolidate and monitor KPI/KRIs for data-related control breaks, risk, issues in your area of coverage to determine if appropriate action is taken

  • Work with the Data Stewards and Business to ensure that data owners have been assigned and are ensuring the Data Governance Policy and Standards are appropriately enforced in their system

  • Monitor program scope, change, and risk management

  • Provide recommendations to accelerate cost reductions in GRM from the adoption of improved Front Line Units’ processes.

SKILLS FOR SUCCESS

Technical Expertise. Demonstrates the application of innovative technical solutions to solving complex data intensive challenges  

  • Comfortable with the application of digital technology and inclusion of controls as part of application design

  • Experience in software-based controls in a high volume, real-time business environment in a highly automated businesses

  • Demonstrated Data Analyst or Business Analyst skillset

  • Strong understanding of the compliance and risk environment in financial services

Execution Expertise.  Ability to drive execution through disciplined oversight

  • Successful delivery of owned projects in a cross functional team environment in financial services - business, technology, compliance and risk.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors or Masters in computer science, system analysis or related field with minimum 5 years of relevant experience

  • Demonstrated Data Analyst or Business Analyst skillset

  • Experience working on data strategy or data or analytic teams responsible for developing, managing, or delivering data products/processes, or data/analytics warehouses, with client delivery or accountability

  • Knowledge of data governance practices, business and technology issues related to management of enterprise information assets and approaches related to data protection

  • Ability to monitor tight deadlines and adapt to unexpected requirement changes

  • Strong process/systems analysis, design and documentation

  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to lead discussions with counterparts

  • Self-motivated with an ability to work on one’s own with a strong sense of ownership and accountability in high-pressure situations


Desired Qualifications

  • Familiarity with one of the following areas – Trading, Consumer Banking, Wealth Management, Compliance Surveillance
