Vice President/ Director- ESG Equity Research Strategist

The candidate will work alongside their Senior Analyst and Junior Analyst peers in all aspects to produce and market Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) research to institutional accounts, such as hedge funds and long only asset managers, as well as BofA financial advisors and BofA sales and trading.  The candidate will work on idea generation to present relevant ESG research themes and views, including investor positioning, flows, and regulatory or policy impacts.

Responsibilities

  • Write regular ESG research reports, including collaborative reports with fundamental analysts and across asset classes

  • Assist in updating ESGMeterTM, BofA’s proprietary ESG scores

  • Analyze implications of ESG attributes in investment processes

  • Develop and maintain databases and indicators integral to our research product

  • Generate investment ideas by backtesting BofA’s proprietary data sets as well as third party data

  • Build relationships and facilitate information flow with contacts across the BofA platform.

  • Participate and contribute to client meetings and events

  • Attend meetings and interact with key opinion leaders

  • Seek out new, value-added, and/or off-the-beaten-path sources of information

  • Leverage our robust network of industry contacts & interact regularly with clients

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • Min 5+ years of experience focusing in equity research, buy side experience or investment banking experience

  • Experience in ESG/sustainable investing or related field a plus

  • Strong writing and spreadsheet skills. Must be an expert in MS Word and MS Excel.

  • Experience back-testing investment strategies, working with alternative data sets a plus

  • Experience utilizing Bloomberg and/or FactSet a positive

  • Entrepreneurial, proactive, willing to take ownership of quantitative research products

  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced and intense environment

  • Must have excellent attention to detail, ability to multi-task

  • Must have strong communication skills, written and verbal

  • Must work well in a collaborative team environment
