Retirement & Personal Wealth Solutions (RPWS) serves the core financial needs of individual clients and plan participants by providing best in class, integrated products in the most intuitive, efficient and client friendly way while maintaining a forward thinking mindset and risk management focus.  RPWS is responsible for both the institutional and personal retirement capability set to include 401(k), Equity and Health Benefit plans for companies of all sizes as well as college savings, personal retirement planning, retirement income, insurance and estate planning for individuals. RPWS also provides tools and content that enables advisors and bankers to help their client’s live their best financial lives.

Job Description:

The Trust and Estate Associate is the administrative role on the Trust Specialist team. They are responsible for the coordination of all trust new business submissions and work directly with Merrill Lynch advisors, clients, attorneys/CPAs, internal partners, and predecessor trustees to communicate and obtain required information/documentation and manage expectations e.g. timeframes, paperwork requirements, process flow end-to-end. They prepare new trust accounts for business review and acceptance by securing the required approvals from multiple internal partners including Senior Portfolio Oversight Managers, Fiduciary Platform & Change Managers, the Office of Chief Fiduciary, and Market Trust Executives. They coordinate complex funding strategies e.g. SAM assets (real estate, LLC/LPs closely held stock), controlled stock, external assets and internal transfers with operations partners. They are also responsible for monitoring accounts until activation and investment enrollment in multiple investment platforms e.g. IAP, Blackrock Sub-advised, SPA, Alternative Investments. The TEA coordinates the handoff of the relationship to the internal trust administration team once onboarding has been completed.
This is a mid-level administrative support role within a sales team, whose common goal is to provide Financial Advisors (FAs) with appropriate trust solutions in a timely and compliant manner and meanwhile attaining sales goals
Partnering – Regularly communicate and partner with assigned Trust Specialist, Internal Trust Specialist, Regional Fiduciary Officer (RFO), Investment Oversight and Operations.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree strongly preferred or equivalent experience. JD strongly preferred
• Previous trust experience strongly preferred
• Understanding of (or the willingness and ability to learn) estate planning concepts, ML Trust Company products, platforms, systems, policies and procedures
• Knowledge of the underlying nature of a client's estate plan through appropriate interface with clients, financial advisors and outside legal and tax advisors
• Must possess strong interpersonal skills
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Detailed oriented, accurate, well organized and possess a strong sense of urgency
