GWIM SR OPERATIONS ANALYST

Job Description:

Wealth Management Operations is a team of more than 2,000 associates responsible for delivering integrated service and end-to-end operational support to Merrill, Private Bank, Retirement & Personal Wealth Solutions and Investment Solutions Group client segments. 

Wealth Management Tax Operations is responsible for multiple tax related functions to support IRS and State regulatory required tax reporting, withholding payments, and cost basis updates, primarily on behalf of GWIM investment and retirement accounts.  The Consolidated Statement team is responsible for the production of ~3,200,000 tax reporting statements.  Responsibilities include but are not limited researching, resolving and validating the integrity of tax entries and tax income data housed on the tax reporting database.  This data is then used to produce our tax statements and reported to the IRS and various states.  This will include daily or monthly report validation for numerous internal processes.  Additionally, the incumbent will assist on the development, testing and implementation of changes to our tax database in accordance with IRS or state regulations.   Weekend/Weekday overtime is required when necessary and especially during tax season, January through April.

The responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Lead assigned process functions, support as back up additional functions

  • Validate data and reports against tax database

  • Review tax statement to identify and resolve issues

  • Collaborate on modifications to federal or state regulations to ensure accurate reporting

  • Research and reply to reporting inquiries from Branch Office

  • Assist in the execution and development of macros for data extraction

Required Skills

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products, strong  Excel skills

  • Team player who is self-directed and detail oriented

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills

  • Accurate and efficient data entry

  • Ability to work cooperatively with various levels of associates (i.e.: operations, technology, peers, management, etc.) and embrace change with a positive approach

  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple priorities, adhere to deadlines

Desired Skills

  • College degree preferred

  • Tax background a plus
