Attorney - Rates & Credit Derivatives

Job Description:

Job & Duties & Responsibilities:

The position provides legal representation and support for the U.S. Credit Derivatives and Interest Rates Derivatives business, including:

  • Draft, review, negotiate, and advise on ISDA Master Agreements, Credit Support documentation, risk participation arrangements, and ancillary documentation required by the Rates and Credit Derivatives business.
  • Support the U.S. and LatAm Rates and Credit desks on licensing, documentation, and transaction structuring issues.
  • Provide regulatory advice relating to the CFTC, NFA, SEC and FINRA rules with respect to Swap Dealer and Securities-Based Swap Dealer regulatory requirements, as those impacts the Rates and Credit Derivatives businesses.
  • Advise internal stakeholders on Legal issues in connection with credit events and succession events as well as CDS auctions.
  • Advise the Credit Derivatives business on structured transactions from a documentation and a regulatory perspective.
  • Advise on LIBOR transition issues with respect to the Rates and Credit Derivatives businesses.
  • Work with Rates and Credit Derivatives attorneys in other regions, as well as Compliance, Risk, Credit, and other internal stakeholders to support those businesses.
  • Coordinate with outside counsel on regulatory, enforcement, and general corporate matters relating to Rates and Credit Derivatives businesses.

Required Skills & Abilities:

  • Attorney must be licensed to practice in the appropriate jurisdiction(s).
  • Minimum 7 years’ experience in futures clearing or related financial services, preferably with prior experience counseling Swap Dealer for Rates and Credit Derivatives (either internally or as external counsel)

Desired Skills & Abilities:

  • Candidate should be a self-starter and quick learner, and must be able to work independently and proactively.
  • Candidate should be someone who can handle multiple complex assignments and navigate a large institution.
  • Candidate must possess superior communication skills and must be able to work collaboratively with others in the Legal Department, the business, and across the company.
