Your background

  • Significant level of post qualification experience in Indian and International tax (minimum 15 years’ experience)
  • Currently working for the tax department of a bank or with significant subject matter expertise in banking taxation in India
  • Proven track record of managing tax risk
  • Strategic vision – anticipates tax consequences arising from business developments or legislative change; develops tax effective solutions
  • Ability to influence key stakeholders and champion new ideas & initiatives; strong advocacy and negotiation skills
  • Builds strong relationships; resolves conflicts; diplomatic

What you will do

  • Provide advice to business areas and support groups arising from business activities and changes in the bank’s operating models; review and approve new business products from a tax perspective
  • Manage relationship with tax authorities; oversee tax audits; advise on the negotiation and settlement of issues with tax authorities, including appeals and any necessary litigation
  • Monitor tax legislative proposals or changes and communicate the impacts to internal stakeholders; develop any necessary advocacy or action plans
  • Oversee the EY managed outsourcing arrangement, including the review and approval of: corporation tax filings and tax payments; Finance prepared and EY reviewed tax provision calculations and disclosures; technical advice on indirect taxes; and transfer pricing arrangements and documentation
  • Monitor and control of India litigation issues, including briefing external counsel and making all necessary appeals and court submissions
  • Oversee tax governance and risk management consistent with the global framework; set local tax policies and tax procedures
  • Work with colleagues in International and US tax and assist with queries on the local tax implications of global activities
  • Develop and approve tax policy and planning initiatives with significant impact
  • Represent bank of America at industry body forums and perform advocacy services as required, including industry submissions and liaising with tax authorities or government representatives
