Senior MySQL DBA. Core Technology Organization

Job Description:

The Senior MySQL DBA will support production systems

 The MySQL Database Operations team provides System DBA services to the Enterprise across all the CTOs. It provides end to end Critical Production support and takes care of the MySQL Server infrastructure. The team handles the Event, Incident, Change and Problem management functions for the MySQL Server database infrastructure across the Enterprise. The MySQL Server build and configuration activities are also performed by the MySQL Operations team along with the Performance and Compliance functions thru an understanding of InnoDB clustering and MySQL replication.

Responsibilities include:

  • Designing, developing, implanting, enhancing and supporting a number of projects.
  • Supporting production systems
  • Performing the installation, configuration and upgrading of MySQL software and related products
  • Establishing and maintaining  sound backup and recovery policies and procedures
  • Planning growth and changes (capacity planning)
  • Working as part of a team and provide 8x5 support when required
  • Performing code migration, database change management and data management through the various stages of the development life cycle
  • Communicating with management, development teams, vendors and systems administrators

Required Job Skills:

  • 10 years +  of DBA  experience with designing, developing, implanting, enhancing and supporting a number of projects.
  • Experience in implementing a MySQL High Availability
  • Experience in the Installation, configuration and upgrading of MySQL software and related products
  • Strong knowledge of InnoDB cluster and group replication
  • Experience on  setting up Master/Master and Master/Slave design
  • Strong experience in performance tuning and trouble shooting
  • Experience establishing and maintaining sound backup and recovery policies and procedures
  • Experience planning growth and changes (capacity planning)
  • A good understanding of the underlying operating system 
  • Experience in code migration, database change management and data management through the various stages of the development life cycle
  • Good communication skills with management, development teams, vendors and systems administrators
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines
  • Ability to handle pressure situations since team has got stringent SLAs.
  • Understanding of the business’ needs                                                                        
  • Exposure to Oracle Enterprise and MySQL Enterprise monitoring tools                                           
  • Ability to work as part of a team and provide 8x5 support when required

  • Scripting/SQL skills
  • Foglight/MEM
