Software Engineer III, Risk Technology

Job Description:

Responsible for designing and developing complex requirements to accomplish business goals. Ensures that software is developed to meet functional, non-functional, and compliance requirements. Ensures solutions are well designed with maintainability/ease of integration and testing built-in from the outset. Possess strong proficiency in development and testing practices common to the industry, and have extensive experience of using design and architectural patterns. At this level, specializations start to form in either Architecture, Test Engineering or DevOp. Contributes to story refinement/defining requirements. Participates and guides team in estimating work necessary to realize a story/requirement through the delivery lifecycle. Performs spike/proof of concept as necessary to mitigate risk or implement new ideas. Codes solutions and unit tests to deliver a requirement/story per the defined acceptance criteria and compliance requirements. Utilizes multiple architectural components (across data, application, business) in design and development of client requirements. Assists team with resolving technical complexities involved in realizing story work. Designs/develops/modifies architecture components, application interfaces, and solution enablers while ensuring principal architecture integrity is maintained. Designs/develops/maintains automated test suites (integration, regression, performance). Sets up and develops a continuous integration/continuous delivery pipeline. Automates manual release activities. Mentors other Software Engineers and coaches team on CI-CD practices and automating tool stack. Individual contributor.

Job Summary:

Experienced Data Architecture leader for Enterprise wide program includes several independent/related projects which require interactions with Business leadership and strong technical background. The role supports Data Management and Architecture for Global Compliance and Operational Risk and Enterprise Independent Testing areas of the bank.

Working collaboratively with Data Management leaders, Business and Technology teams, you will be a key player in designing Data solutions and ensuring strategic adherence to the Enterprise Data Management standards.

  • Create the Information Architecture for complex Enterprise Transactional Data stores and Data warehouses
  • Create Conceptual , Logical and Physical Data Model, Data Flows, Data Management specifications
  • Determines database structural requirements by analyzing client operations, applications, and programming; reviewing objectives with clients; evaluating current systems
  • Create High Level design document for Data centric Projects
  • Develop database solutions by designing proposed system; defining database strategy, architecture,  physical structure and functional capabilities
  • Develops strategies for data acquisitions, distribution, archive, recovery, and implementation of a database
  • Provide Leadership to the business and technology teams in identifying the data flow associated with a business flow and guides data provisioning and data capture   process optimization
  • Contribute to the overall system design and operational design
  • Drive data governance strategy, including metadata registry, lineage
  • Delivery driven, work well in a global matrix organization, build relationships and get things done
  • Able to work under pressure, juggle multiple projects, use own initiative and motivation to meet deadlines and set priorities without close supervision
  • Attention to detail and accuracy are critical. You will be an enthusiastic team-player, flexible and results driven
  • Excellent spoken and written English, clear oral communication skills
  • Continuous improvement - must be willing and able to express new ideas, concerns and opinions directly to management and wider teams

Required Skills:

  • 10-12 years of experience in the IT field with progressive experience as an Information Architect for large and complex systems (Must have 5+ years of data architecture experience in one or more of the following areas: Data Modeling, database-focused application development, data analysis, data management and governance)
  • Hands on skills in data modeling and Data design guidance including identification of data entities, data dependencies, and data relationships
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem solving skills
  • Hands on design, develop and manipulate Relational Databases, Data warehouses and multidimensional databases, data mappings
  • Solid background in Database solutions design and/or Database development Oracle Exadata, Big data tools (Hadoop, etc)
  • Strong knowledge of data management concepts, including database structure, and proficiency with SQL and other standard database query tools
  • Experience in data analysis, data mapping techniques
  • Understanding of Data Management fundamentals, including metadata, data quality, and data governance
  • Knowledge of data quality checks and processes and building it into the system
  • Able to influence, lead, and communicate effectively across technology peers, business units, managers and senior leadership
