Director, EAC Compliance and Operational Risk Manager (Anti-Bribery and Anti-Corruption)

Your background

  • Minimum 10 years in a large multinational financial institution, consulting firm or law firm with particular experience in Compliance, Operational Risk, Business Controls and/or Financial Crime.
  • Relevant ABAC program experience, an understanding of Asia Pacific anti-bribery and anti-corruption laws and the US Foreign Corrupt Practices Act.
  • BA/BS degree from an accredited institution.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and acts as a role model for team members and stakeholders.
  • Regulatory knowledge and experience, particularly in Asia Pacific markets and demonstrated success in engaging and gaining creditability with stakeholders, including Internal Audit, Regulators and the First line.
  • Proven ability to communicate clearly, concisely and professionally (written and verbal) and demonstrates engaged listening skills.  Clearly influences outcomes and can work with all levels of management and across organizations.
  • Ability to work within a small team of subject matter experts, provide support and oversight to APAC ABAC team members and drive for results and prioritize competing tasks in a deadline driven and high pace environment.
  • Analytical and research skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.                                                                                                                     
  • A team player with high energy, a “can do attitude” and the ability to challenge others (when necessary). and manage conflict and conduct risks appropriately.

What you can expect

A talented Compliance and Operational Risk Manager to join the Enterprise Anti-Bribery / Anti-Corruption (ABAC) Compliance and Operational Risk with direct coverage responsibility for Asia Pacific. This role reports to the International Head of ABAC Compliance and Operational Risk based in London  and is part of a wider Enterprise Compliance and Operational Risk team with members based across the US, Canada, Latin America and Europe. The ABAC team is dynamic, supportive and involves working with team members and stakeholders in many different regions and business lines.  This role involves delivering an effective and sustainable Enterprise ABAC program, which means providing support on the development and implementation of policies, standards and controls.  You will act as a primary point of contact in providing subject matter expertise to the Asia Pacific business and as part of the wider Enterprise ABAC team. You will be responsible for managing and identifying bribery and corruption risk, conflicts of interest and employee conduct. This role will also require contribution and input in the wider ABAC program work including monitoring, testing, audits, regulatory reviews, transactional advice, and conflicts of interest and conduct related matters  You will be required to maintain awareness and understanding of the regulatory framework in which Bank of America operates, and the regulatory requirements and expectations of relevance to ABAC.  Provide functional support to the Asia Pacific business, ABAC team and the International Head.   Ensure the ABAC Program exemplifies best practices and challenge, where necessary, stakeholders on the effectiveness of the ABAC Programme.

What you will do

  • Implementation, enhancement and management of the enterprise ABAC program with a particular focus on Asia Pacific risk identification and management.
  • Evaluating Asia Pacific and enterprise-wide compliance and operational risk and recommend policies, procedures, standards and guidelines to mitigate such risks. 
  • Present at Asia Pacific business, Compliance and Operational risk committee and forums.
  • Provide advice and counsel on ABAC issues, and other key laws and regulations and, where necessary, wider financial crime compliance matters.
  • Provision of advice on gifts and entertainment matters.
  • Management of Third Party Intermediaries for the Asia Pacific region (as required).
  • Providing advice and counsel on pre-clearing political and/or charitable contributions and governmental outside business activities, sponsorships, responding to vendor escalations, tracking and responding to Request for Proposals (RFP), reviewing and managing hiring practices escalation requests, and serving as a critical component in executing the monitoring and testing plan around ABAC key risk activities.
  • Provide transactional advice regarding identifying and mitigating bribery and corruption risks, including undertaking transactional due diligence and research into ABAC related matters and risks.
  • Management of Audits and Regulatory Exam requests, risk assessments, training and awareness, and other Compliance programme deliverables.
  • Implement and communicate compliance strategies, concepts, programme and regulations related to ABAC Compliance risks.
  • Undertake risk assessments and the provision of training.
  • Executing monitoring routines focused on ABAC compliance risks.
  • Evaluate and advise on reputational and regulatory risks arising from clients, third parties and transactions in accordance with the embedded compliance and operational risk program.
