Employee Relations Manager - Global Markets

Job Description:

The Global Markets Employee Relations Manager (ERM) is responsible for assessing and mitigating employment risks for the businesses across Global Markets. Our Global Markets division serves mid- to large-sized corporations and institutional clients worldwide.

The ERM partners closely with HR generalists, FLU leaders and other key stakeholders to:

  • Personally investigate and manage high risk and highly sensitive cases relating to allegations of harassment, discrimination, complaints about manager(s) and/or work environment, and Code of Conduct violations
  • Partner with Internal Enterprise Investigations (IEI), Legal, Audit, Compliance, and Global Information Security on investigations and management of cases relating to market misconduct, compliance, regulatory, fraud, whistleblower, and executive escalations and lead partner-led investigations to resolution
  • Provide ER advice on business decisions with potential downstream ER-risks (e.g. performance mgt., RIFs, and business reorganizations)
  • Provide advice to HR generalists and FLU managers on a variety of ER topics including but not limited to HR policy, attendance, leaves of absence, performance, and conflict resolution
  • Thoroughly and completely document cases and ER activity in case management tool and report out to key stakeholders
  • Proactively identify and mitigate ER-related risks leveraging quantitative and qualitative data.
  • Manage disciplinary action decisions to ensure global consistency and facilitate processes and controls related to conduct and culture governance (e.g. LOB conduct tracker, regulatory updates and reporting, Conduct Review Forum (CRF), YE Conduct Governance)
  • Gather and share business intelligence/insights to ensure ER applies a contemporary business perspective to ER solutions and support
  • Exemplify the Bank of America Core Values in each and every interaction with team, clients and stakeholders

Responsible for the implementation of employee relations strategies for major business segments of the organization. Partners with HR and control function leaders across the line of business to provide solutions to complex employee relations issues and drives projects and initiatives to mitigate employment risk.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Experience, and Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required; Masters or Law Degree a plus
  • 10+ years in Human Resources, Employee Relations or Employment Law
  • MUST have demonstrated expertise investigating complex ER related issues
  • Prior financial services and/or regulatory experience a plus
  • Strong executive presence and relationship management skills, including the ability to interact with and influence peers and partners
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills – must be able to explain complex topics in clear, concise and understandable terms
  • Ability to lead across multiple stakeholders to orchestrate cohesive oversight and management
  • Ability to navigate complex, matrixed structure and influence outcomes
  • Ability to prioritize in the face of competing priorities, interruptions and distractions
  • Ability to manage risk while ensuring optimal value and outcomes are achieved
  • High level of integrity and objectivity to ensure proper outcomes are obtained
  • Strong data presentation skills (Excel, PowerPoint)
