Consumer Banking Controller Team – Product / Specialty Controller

Charlotte, North Carolina

Job Description:

The Consumer Banking Controller team is part of the CFO-Global Financial Control organization.  The primary focus of the team is ensuring the accuracy of the books and records of the bank and supporting our business partners.  Our business partners include Product BFOs, Consumer Business Finance, LOB Operations, Regulatory Reporting, Accounting Policy, and other Enterprise teams.

The Product/Specialty Controller is responsible for core day-to-day accounting and controller functions for US Consumer and global Merchant Services. This include accounting reviews, monthly close and reporting, external and regulatory reporting, and product line of business/finance support. 

Key Responsibilities and competencies:

  • Perform accounting and control routines – e.g. accounting entries, month-end close monitoring, attestations, SOX
  • Review general ledger balances, understand trends, and challenge any anomalies
  • Deliver month-end reporting and analytics that are clear, concise, and actionable
  • Preparation of data submissions for regulatory reporting groups and other external reporting
  • Identify and escalate control issues, errors, and efficiency opportunities
  • Partner with peers and management to implement process and reporting improvements

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree (Accounting or Finance strongly preferred)
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products with emphasis on Excel (macros, pivot tables, look-ups, and filtering) to include large data populations and complex formulas
  • Adaptable, ability to work independently in a fast paced, results driven environment with changing priorities
  • Strong interpersonal and project management skills
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to understand complex business challenges and potential solutions

Desired Skills:

  • CPA
  • Related industry or product accounting experience
  • SAP / eLedger / EPM
  • Alteryx /Tableau
