Your background

  • 5-7 years of production experience in developing solutions, writing code with VMware Cloud, Infrastructure as Code, and Virtualization Technologies
  • Proficiency is required in at least 2 of the following software languages – Ansible, Python, JavaScript, vRealize Automation (vRA) / vRealize Orchestrator (vRO), and/or PowerCLI
  • Source code management with GIT / BitBucket and proficiency with source code branching strategies
  • Software quality assurance: Experience with writing unit tests and functional tests
  • Total comfort leveraging JIRA and Confluence for documenting architectural and development decisions in an iterative manner
  • Demonstrated understanding of VMware’s SDDC suite (vCF/ESXi/vCenter/vSAN/NSX)
  • Proven ability to consume and create secure RESTful APIs to facilitate integration
  • Understanding of software and/or application lifecycle and the implementation of security principals throughout
  • Excellent partner & teammate to peers: able to influence and resolve across organizational lines and willingness to mentor others based on your history and skillset
  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Information Security or related field experience

Desired Skills:

  • Experience working with CI/CD pipelines and Jenkins is a plus
  • Prior work experience in an Operations / Production Support Role in Virtualization Technology is a plus
  • Networking knowledge DNS, DHCP, IPAM, VLAN/VXLAN, Virtual Switch/NIC configuration, F5 BigIP is a plus
  • Open Source software and code management platforms
  • Experience with VMware code management products (Codestream, vRLCM) is desirable
  • Knowledge and Experience on VMware vRealize Network Insight, vRealize Log Insight, vRealize Operations is a plus
  • Experience with Authentication / Authorization Protocols (OAuth, SAML, Kerberos) is desirable

  • The Bank of America Cloud hosting team is seeking to fill a software engineering position focused on VMware SDDC technologies to automate every aspect of our environment. The team’s goal is to develop a robust CI/CD pipeline to certify, support and maintain the underlying infrastructure of the firm’s applications. From initial version certification through net new builds, to upgrading the running production environment through operational support automation. We are moving to manage the environment as Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
  • Coding and workflow development leveraging Python, Ansible, vRealize Automation/vRealize Orchestrator, Javascript, PowerCLI or similar languages is foundational and must be complimented with a solid understanding of the VMware infrastructure stack. In addition, a willingness to work with other teams to debug and resolve production issues that arise from their code is integral to the success of our team.  As a financial institution, we strive to connect technology with measurable business value. You should have a demonstrated ability to think strategically about the business, products we offer and technical challenges that we must address.

What you will do

  • Understand the requirements for net new installs or capacity expansion of existing Virtualization Platform built on VMware Technology
  • Testing and certifying the version upgrades of VMware code management products (Codestream,vRealize Software Lifecycle Manager)
  • Coding and workflow development leveraging Python, Ansible, vRealize Automation/vRealize Orchestrator, Javascript, PowerCLI or similar languages that becomes an integral part of Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
  • Integration of code for the VMware’s SDDC suite (vCF/ESXi/vCenter/vSAN/NSX) to work seamlessly in the production environment
  • Source code management with GIT / BitBucket
  • Debug and resolve production issues that arise from code malfunction of VMware’s SDDC suite (vCF/ESXi/vCenter/vSAN/NSX)
  • Collaborate with other developers in the team and ensure that source code branching strategies is diligently followed to avoid an overlap.
  • Propose and implement the code enhancements in the standard operating procedure for build, commission of virtual infrastructure and remove the redundant logic.
  • Propose and document the enhancements in the VMware code management products (Codestream, vRealize Software Lifecycle Manager) configuration guides
