Senior Hadoop Developer

Charlotte, North Carolina;

Job Description:

Position Summary

Senior Hadoop developer to join Consumer Credit Assistance Tech team

Required Skills

Organization Description:
In the Consumer Credit Assistance Technology group at Bank of America, our vision is for clients to complete every interaction with us feeling better and financially safer than before – we directly impact people’s lives during their hardest times. Employing diverse, technical talent helps us blur the human and computer sides of that interaction. The Data Team is focused on transforming the current technology environment for Consumer Credit Assistance to a high-tech platform utilizing Hadoop, Java/Spark, Sqoop, and a number of other tools. We are creating the “brain” that will automatically drive client interactions across all of the Bank’s channels (e.g. letters, texts, mobile interactions, phone calls, etc.). Our brain will process millions of rows of data in batches as well as interface with Erica, the Bank’s artificial intelligence, to provide real-time analysis and options for clients so that they can achieve their goals in whichever medium feels most comfortable to them.

Project Description:
The Consumer Credit Assistance Technology Data Team is currently focused on several initiatives. The Senior Hadoop Developer will join one of our scrum teams in order to deliver critical features for our software products.  The person should have an extensive software-development background and be able to coach/mentor other developers in order to accelerate team delivery.

In-scope initiatives include building new schemas in Hadoop and migrating legacy application data to the Strategic Data Platform; writing Java/Spark code to crunch millions of rows of data into more meaningful, analytics data models; partner with Line of Business (LOB) contacts in order to create the flow of data from source systems to the Strategy Decision Engine (SDE), our brain for Collections activities; and work with the Digital organization to integrate our brain with the Bank’s artificial intelligence, Erica. We are on-boarding all of the Bank’s products to the SDE over the next few years and expanding into real-time data processing for phone, mobile, and web-based interactions in the near future.
