Process Overview*

The Global Banking and Markets [GBAM] Finance seeks to provide first-class support service to its various internal clients with a particular focus on the relationship between trading risk positions and P&L components. We are looking to recruit an individual to work in the Value at Risk Back-Testing Controls function of GBAM Finance.

Job Description*

As a member of this team, you will be accountable for providing production support, as well as delivering change initiatives, across the Value at Risk Back-Testing (VBT) Program. This team handles VBT controls and reporting at a granular level across the entire Global Markets Business across Bank of America and ensures flawless and timely delivery of P&L attribution required for VBT, together with analysis of the returned results and remediation where required. This will include liaising with Line of Business Finance controllers globally across all trading businesses (Equities, Credit, Fixed Income, FX, Commodities, etc.) and analyzing VaR overages and P&L explains.  As such, the visibility and exposure in this role is quite significant as VBT is done essentially across all regions and trading businesses.

Responsibilities*

As an Individual Contributor developing and re-engineering processes to bridge the Product Control, Finance and Risk disciplines, responsibilities will include the following:

  • Partnering closely with Finance, Risk and Technology to define business processes and implement related technology solutions.
  • Helping deliver, design, maintain and enhance VBT data & MIS processes that impact multiple product control businesses across all regions
  • Liaise with Technology to oversee aspects of implementation include tactical solutions and strategic enhancements as additional requests are made by Finance, Risk, Audit and/or Regulators
  • Building sustainable processes that the candidate will then run after development

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Ability to lead and drive change and Operational Excellence.
  • Strong collaboration and relationship-management skills
  • High sense of urgency with ability to drive results
  • Independent thought process; strongly need an individual who doesn’t need to be advised on every single next step and who takes initiative
  • Minimum of 4 years+ industry experience
  • Have proven ‘requirement and process definition’ and ‘documentation’ skills with ability to handle diverse workload and tight schedules
  • Strong applications skills in MS Excel, MS Access, VBA, Tableau and Python can handle large data-sets with ease
  • Excellent verbal and written communication/presentation skills
  • Ability to bridge communication between Analysts and Technologists
  • Ability to work across business groups and in a team environment
  • Ability to interface across various levels and departments of the organization
  • Basic Financial Product knowledge – can relate the PL change of underlying position with respect to Macro Economic factors – Interest Rate/Equity/FX etc.

Desired Skills

  • Experience in or around the product control environment
  • Experience in Middle Office/Finance/Operation re-engineering initiatives
  • Ability to articulate full product life cycle and understanding front to back OTC trade life cycle and the use of OTC valuations by downstream consumers
  • Understanding of Greeks, knowledge of VaR a benefit
  • Experience in Alteryx or other similar Emerging Technologies
