Job Description:

Responsible for optimizing the flow of epics/features and the value delivered by a smaller Agile Release Train (ART). Coordinates and facilitates the ART ceremonies, manages dependencies across teams in the ART, and provides visibility into the health of epic/feature delivery and the overall program increment. Ensures impediments to epic/feature delivery are resolved quickly and protects the teams from outside disruptions to delivery. Manages financials for the ART and assist with resource planning. Helps define norms/agreements for the ART and enforces the agreements. Coordinates and facilitates ART ceremonies - e.g. Backlog Refinement, Program Increment (PI) Planning, ART Sync (or PO Sync, Scrum of Scrums), System Demos, Retrospective. In collaboration with the PM, ensures the program has a healthy product/program backlog. Facilitates dependency management/risk management/impediment removal for the ART. Promotes/facilitates communication and collaboration within the ART to support value delivery and PI commitments. Responsible for providing status updates and reporting pertaining to ART plans/delivery/timelines/impediments to stakeholders and leadership. Ensures Enterprise Change Management and other policy requirements for technology solutions are met for the epics/features delivered by the ART. Measures ART delivery, maturity, and performance and reviews the metrics with the ART to identify improvement opportunities. Global Risk Analytics Technology (GRA Tech) is searching for a talented, seasoned and highly motivated Release Train Engineer.  This role will focus on building the next generation model development and execution platform. This platform will leverage a host of interesting technologies including Spark and Hadoop and utilize a unique, user-configurable, workflow-driven, model execution approach. This is a multiyear project in a business-critical domain. Global Risk Analytics (GRA) is responsible for developing analytics to support risk modeling activities across all lines of business at the Bank.  Uses include CCAR, CECL, IFRS 9 and other regulatory and management reports.

This Release Train Engineer is responsible for optimizing the flow of epics/features and the value delivered by a smaller Agile Release Train (ART) and is focused on serving the needs of the train to drive performance and growth. Key responsibilities include coordinating and facilitating the ART ceremonies, managing dependencies across teams in the ART, and providing visibility into the health of epic/feature delivery and the overall program increment.  This role ensures impediments to epic/feature delivery are resolved quickly and protects the teams from outside disruptions to delivery.  They manage financials for the ART and assist with resource planning. In addition, they promote and coach the Agile mindset and principles, empowering individual teams to become self-managing and fulfill their cross-functional potential. In this role the RTE will also be on point to perform scrum master responsibilities within the team.

Required Skills:

  • Guide and coach the teams on the Agile Release Train on Scrum practices and develop their understanding of Agile principles.
  • Scrum master expertise leading multiple feature teams.
  • Help define norms/agreements for the ART and enforce the agreements.
  • Coordinate and facilitate ART ceremonies (for example, Backlog Refinement, Program Increment (PI) Planning, ART Sync or PO Sync, Scrum of Scrums), System Demos, and Retrospective.
  • In collaboration with the Product Manager, ensure the program has a healthy product/program backlog.
  • Facilitate dependency management/risk management/impediment removal for the ART.
  • Promote/facilitate communication and collaboration within the ART to support value delivery and PI commitments.
  • Responsible for providing status updates and reporting pertaining to ART plans/delivery/timelines/impediments to stakeholders and leadership.
  • Ensure Enterprise Change Management and other policy requirements for technology solutions are met for the epics/features delivered by the ART.
  • Measure ART delivery, maturity, and performance and review the metrics with the ART to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Capture data to help determine/track product funding and resource acquisition needs.
  • Mentor more junior Scrum Masters

Desired Skills:

  • 5-7 years’ experience in a Release Train Engineer or Scrum Master role.
  • Working knowledge of Jira and the ability to use JQL to write queries and set up various reports or dashboards
  • Previous Project Management experience and working knowledge of SDLC
  • Knowledge of SAFe
