Asset Liability Manager - Interest Rate Risk

Job Description:

Balance Sheet and Management (BSM) is a division within the CFO group responsible for providing executive management with accurate and timely forecasts of the balance sheet and net interest income (NII) as well as measurement and analysis of Interest Rate Risk (IRR).  This information provides the framework that allows the company to position its balance sheet consistent with its risk appetite and expectations for changes in interest rates. 

BSM maintains close partnerships with various groups across the enterprise, providing key input to critical processes and strategic decisions. These partnerships focus on the following: (1) balance sheet composition and interest rate risk strategy, (2) strategic planning for the company’s three-year outlook with Corporate Planning and Finance, (3) stress testing the balance sheet under adverse economic scenarios with the Global Stress Testing team and, (4) producing the balance sheet and NII forecast in coordination with the Line of Business and Global Liquidity Management for the Global Resolution and Recovery Planning exercise.

The Asset Liability Manager role, within the Interest Rate Analytics team within Balance Sheet Management, will actively lead efforts that are strategic and project-oriented in nature.  Included within this scope:

  • Acting as a subject matter expert across the broader team that is responsible for measuring Interest Rate Risk in varying environments. Metrics include Economic, Accounting, and Regulatory parameters.  Make rate positioning & risk recommendations after analyzing tradeoffs among competing metrics and constraints in a scenario driven environment.  

  • Present to Executive Management and Regulators.  Produce analytics for Senior Leadership inclusive of scenario analysis. 

  • Drive forward key initiative both internal to BSM but across Treasury teams, inclusive of designing & building business requirements for technology development

  • Business partner with multiple groups within Corporate Treasury including Finance, Capital, Forecasting, Liquidity, Corporate Investments, Quantitative Finance, & Corporate Funding.  Liaise with Model Risk Management in support of internal models and model systems within BSM.

Required Skills:

  • 4 years of experience in data analytics with emphasis on design, testing, and implementation of calculations related to net interest income, cash flows, or risk analytics

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in Finance, Business, Accounting, Quantitative, or Economics

  • Finance/Accounting knowledge – experience in balance sheet management, forecasting, or other Corporate Treasury functions

  • Understanding of financial market dynamics, interest rates, accounting, and financial products

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a time sensitive environment

  • Ability to work across multiple teams in a collaborative environment

  • Proficient in MS Office tools, especially Microsoft Excel & SQL skills

  • Inquisitive, willing to challenge the status quo and strive to improve processes

Desired Skills:

  • Experience analyzing fixed income securities, interest rate derivatives

  • MBA in Finance/Accounting a plus

  • Technical Business Analyst skills (SQL, VBA, Python)

  • Prior experience with Model Risk Management

This role may be filled as an Asset Liability Manager or a Senior Asset Liability Associate based on skills and experience.
