Experience Designer III - Charlotte, NC

This position is for a UX Researcher with a user-first mindset, who has the passion for stepping in a users’ shoe and understanding their needs and bridging the gap between a user’s mental model and business goals. This individual thrives in a highly collaborative and cross-disciplinary team environment.  Must have experience in enterprise wide planning and executing of appropriate user research methodologies. A UX Researcher needs to have a foundation in overall user-centered design process along with excellent empathetic user research, data analysis and accessibility skills. A researcher is involved in all aspects of the experience design process from context-based research to presenting to internal clients, senior stakeholders and team members alike. Success depends on close collaboration and partnerships with end-users and subject matter experts, as well as product and technology counterparts.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan, execute and analyze user research studies with the ability to flexibly scale them across desktop and mobile devices.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define & refine research objectives and ensure alignment with strategic, business and user goals.

  • Work closely with UX strategists, designers and fellow researchers to provide research expertise and support during workshops and ongoing UX activities.

  • Collaborate with the design team to conduct design research to enhance UI Standards & the Design Pattern library.

  • Interpret qualitative and quantitative data from web analytics, user research data, trends and patterns to create actionable recommendations at project and portfolio level.

  • Elicit user needs and usability concerns through various research methods, such as interviews, surveys, usability testing, task analysis, contextual inquires, ethnographic studies, & card sorting.

  • Evaluate and evolve user models (personas, scenarios, profiles).

  • Develop information architecture and content strategy.

  • Perform heuristic evaluation, accessibility reviews and testing of applications and make concrete recommendations for improving their usability.

  • Provide rapid prototyping support to communicate concepts/designs recommendations based on research conducted.

  • Synthesize research data, summarize findings & present results to management and project teams for both strategic and project level insight.

Required Skills:

  • Bachelors / Master’s degree required or 8 - 10 years of equivalent job related experience.

  • Extensive understanding of overall UX process and software development methodologies.

  • Experience / proficiency with tools like Userzoom, Excel, Mural, Axure, Sketch, Invision, and alike.

  • Experience / proficiency in experimental design, statistics and Section 508 / Accessibility training and certification will be considered a plus.

  • Experience in designing for mobile applications, responsive web and other digital interfaces.

  • Has organizational skills to manage multiple projects, shifting priorities, demands and timelines.

  • Deeply empathetic and passionate about understanding the target audience.

  • Is an enthusiastic, highly motivated self-starter with a strong work ethic and an intense focus on achieving results.

  • Collaborates and builds trust with design, product, and tech partners.

  • Proactively seeks out partnerships.

Desired Skills:

  • Bachelors or Masters in Human Factors, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), User Experience, Usability Engineering, Experimental Psychology or related field, or equivalent education and related training / certification.

  • Experience with user-centered design research methodologies and rapid ideation processes such as Lean XD, Design Sprints and Agile methodologies.

Responsible for ensuring products provide a meaningful and relevant experience to users. Guides the entirety of the design process through completion by presenting to stakeholders and working along side the development team to ensure accurate implementation and compliance to enterprise brand and accessibility standards. Creates user-centered, simple and moderns designs, which are desirable and efficient multi-channel experiences. Works closely with the users, stakeholders, and Product Owner to develop a cohesive and consistent user experience, and increase user satisfaction. Creates innovative solutions that generate significant value for the client. Leads/oversees all of the user experience and design aspects of a product. Anticipates user needs, advocates for them and ensures the final product delights them. Independently designs and run user research to derive insights and add context. Synthesizes the user research data to articulate customer needs, and create tangible solutions for user-centered design. Facilitates innovation, design thinking, and design studio workshops to create digital experiences. Develops concept sketches and storyboards, detailed interaction designs and screen flows, functional specifications, and prototypes to clearly articulate solutions. Expert in the banks brand and effectively applies the brand to visual designs. Ensures that the solution in development aligns to best practices, brand consistency, and standards including accessibility. Collaborates with the development team to ensure designs are feasible to implement and subsequently implemented accurately, and assists with accessibility requirements. Leads concept and usability testing and synthesizes the results to validate and improve solution design. Tracks user experience metrics and reports on the success of improvements. Mentors more junior Experience Designers. Individual contributor.
